recovery points

Hey. I recently got another ranger and havent had a chance to take it out and get it muddy. Its 2wd and i wanted to make sure i have good solid recovery points before i go out. I have the two towhooks in the front. so thats fine, the might get tweaked but whatever.

my concerns were with the back. I dont have a hitch and dont really have the money to get one now. I was wondering if there is some kind of hook or secure point that i can bolt onto one of my framerails that hangs down under the bumper. preferably something thats fairly cheap and i can do myself. anyone know of anything like this?

Nope, Just make a Y harness and pull from points where the bumper attaches to the frame. Your rear bumper may get a little crushed in if they have to ****** you...but whatever you do NEVER ****** from the tow ball...and if you like keeping a straight bumper dont pull from the center.

hmm. thats not a bad idea but id rather find a better solution. Would it be bad to pull off of one of the frame rails, or do i really need a hitch to connect to the both

It wouldnt be bad...as far as I know. As long as you arent snatching hardcore. However, I usually get burried to the frame before I give up trying to get out so I am not digging around in the mudd to get under the truck. lol

You could just use simple hooks bolted to the frame on the back of the truck, maybe check out Bob's level II hooks on the back of his truck.

They are usually designed for distinct frame rails. just search ranger hitch and hopefully something comes up for ya.

not much in your area. maybe ask someone who is selling their ranger with a hitch if they would part that out, held on with 4 bolts so not hard to take off.

Why? Just get a D-shackle or hook that slides into the receiver.

Hidden hitch makes custom round tube hitches, or their square tube hitches which come with adaptation hardware to fit a variety of vehicles in your vehicle's class.

The round tube hitch for the ranger looks good, the square tube ones are kinda ugly but will do the job just as well.

My hitch was 25 dollars lol
Mine rear hitch was $30 (craigslist), off an 87 ranger.

My front hitch was also $30 (also craigslist), plus the welder fee to make it custom.......
