can someone explain this?

What i thought was a belt squeal and cured,is back.Seems to be the starter. When i start the truck the starter sueals like a slipping belt for 3 or 4 seconds. It turns the engine over fine.No dragging and starts quickly. Is it possibly not disengaging soon enough????

Sometimes it is the bendix spring, may be in your case.

There's also a bronze bushing on the shaft where it spins. That might be worn out. For the price of a new/remanned starter, I would replace it rather than getting stranded in some parking lot or something.

If everything is running right just makes that sound, its sounds like its a bearing on one of your pully's. take your belt off and use your hand and spin each pully and listen for the sound.

if you have a 3.0, it could be the dreaded cam synchro
