to chain or not to chain

im heading up to mammoth mountain to go snow mobiling tomorrow morning and i was wondering if chains would be best even if i was 4x4.

No chains, Drive as far as possible in 4wd, When stuck, Ride snowmobile the rest of the way

yes Chains will help alot even with you already having 4wd.

And don't forget the roll of steel tie wire.I hate the sound of a broken cross chain against sheet metal.

Not sure if its the same as bear...but sometimes there is a requirement where they wont let you pass without chains/cables...i might head up this weekend as well...supposed to have a decent storm coming through...

i would say carry them with you just incase and use them if needed

I may be a bit late, but you should really think about getting some chains, huge storm on the way!
