What to buy:) E-fan, pulley and locker or what.

I am trying to figure out what I should get next. I am getting 33's and a bama programmer. I was wondering if I should go with some more power mods, like an e-fan and pulley and maybe a locker. I was looking at the Auburn ECTED Locker, time to get rid of the open rear. Then with the programmer and maybe the e-fan and pulley, I can free up some more lost power.

What is the consensus on the e-fan and what size and accessories and also what size gatorback belt do I need.

I also need a new shifter arm, I was looking at a generic short throw shifter, so I don't hit my explorer console and I can finally screw it down.

Any advice. Much appreciated.

The e-fan needs a way to mount it, a temperature switch to control it and a relay to protect the switch from the high amp draw of the fan. Popular lore says that a 16" is the biggest that will fit. More CFM rating is better but the price goes up with flow rate. S-blade fans are usually quieter.

As far as I know, the only short throw shifter that will fit the Mazda/Ranger manual trans is the Hurst conversion.

proform makes an all in one efan, its made by the same exact manufacturer of the black magic, its exatcly the same, only $50 cheaper. i have a black magic in the torino and its great. we should be able to find the proform for about 150. thats something we couldinstall in a weekend, the hardest part is mounting it. a pulley would be really easy to install.

i dont really like that style. the black magic and the proform version of it is all contained in one package, its very clean and simple to install. like i said the trickiest part is the brackets.

ryan you could do a locker but i dont have any first hand experience on anything but a 9 inch, which is cake compared to a diff with a cover

I've got a buddy that is putting a locker in his huge GMC rearend that has a ASE certified mechanic helping him, I may resort to them for the locker install, but the rest we can do.

Ya I measured up the Black Magic and it fits just about perfect. As far as mounting it, I think I'm skilled enough to do that even with some modications required. Soon as I get a spare $240 its mine...from who I've talked to it makes an enormous difference so long as you don't drive in the desert everyday...oh wait I'm in Ohio so I don't have to worry bout that...

get a powertrax or similar locker, you don't need to mess with the gears at all, you just need common hand tools...

NoSLip can be done by firsttimers in a driveway.
The Black Magic, if your set on that one can be had for $199 on summit or jegs i think. I know i've seen it in the past couple days on the web on several sites for $199 so save yourself that $50. Or do like Bob said and save $50 more on the proform

Hmmm...so are you saying i could spare my headaches and get an efan installed for a case of corona light and have you remove that clutch fan???? NC is beautiful this time of year isnt it??

I'm just glad the problem went away...hopefully not with the issues John mentioned in his PM. Hopefully it was something other than horrible grinding of metal, it didnt sound like metal grinding.
