Cheap turbo?
 
I ran across this on ebay, but it seems way too cheap to be true.....what do ya'll think? That company has a ton of other parts.....look in their store.

Seems like a t3-t4 turbo. says its ' new '. I know those spools go for a LOT more.. maybe its a liquidation of old stock?

Can't beat that price.

Considering it's only the turbo itself, and nothing else, that price seems considerable.

However, this is pretty cool! AutoMeter needs to make something like this!

Might wanna do sone research on that turbo. You cant just pick a turbo out and throw it on somthing. The blades are cut to a certain angle based off the type of motor it is gonna go on.


Even an engine under only light boost requires a system for cooling the lubricating oil and upgraded piston crowns, exhaust valves and valve seats. Intercooled turbo engines require additional plumbing, whilst highly tuned turbocharged engines will require extensive upgrades to their lubrication, cooling and breathing systems.

Turbocharger parts are costly to add to naturally aspirated engines.

its a .50 trim, I would honestly look at a smaller turbo that spools sooner. If you are slapping it on a ranger, your ranger will not rev high enough to use this turbo effectively.

If I were starting this project, I would look at a Borg Warner KKK series, and look at getting 2 small turbos. Thats just me though. But the torque curve of the K03 series is a good fit.

Im not serious about putting a turbo on my truck, I just happened to run across it while looking for something else.......although a turbo would be nice. lol

That turbo is common for the 2.3T swap into our trucks. Im designing mine right now around it. Yes it is normal for that turbo to go for arounf 160-200.

But take the butchers (me) word for it, there is no way that turbo is quality. You truly will get what you pay for when it comes to this type of stuff.

-Blades are not "cut", and they are not set at certain angles for the engine. You pick a turbo based on the requirements set forth by your engine. Turbo's are not designed for one specific engine. In fact given two identical engines with different mods, two different turbo's could be necessary, and possibly neither one could work efficiently on the other engine.
-No additional oil cooling is necessarily required either, my 2.3T does not have an additional oil cooler. Has yet to have a oil control problem running 20PSI either.
-Please define light boost. To me, light boost is <5PSI, a completely stock 2.5L can take that with out problems assuming the tune is dead on.

-I...uhhhh....what? I think you don't know what you're talking about :shrug:
Turbo's this size are a normal upgrade for the 2.3T's, hell guys run way larger turbo's and get them to spool ~2500RPM. I have a dodge Cummins Holset HY35 turbo to go on my 2.3T. How much you want to bet I'll have that thing singing 20+ PSI by 2800RPM? Oh, and Rangers rev up 6250RPM, but RPM is not what spools a turbo, its air flow and heat.
-KKK's are way out of the efficiency range for these engines. They'll work, for a short period of time if you want your power band to be off idle to ~3500RPM. Not very practicle if you're wanting a real turbo engine.
-2 turbo's? On a four cylinder??? Come on now.
