Thinking about adding another Ranger. Went looking at two dealers. 12 single cab white manuals, 1 red 3.0 sport automatic ext cab, 1 black 4x4 4.0 manual sport.

That was it. It's getting bad. Looked like a lot of future Auto Zone parts delivery trucks.

The same lots used to have 50+ combined just a few years ago.

 

man that is sad we have two ford dealers in town might go check them out tomorrow an see what they got

 

They never carry anything good anymore. When they do they ask way to ****ing much... I got my truck 2 years ago for 15, and i went to look at a dealer and they are trying to sell trucks older than mine with more miles and all for more than what i paid for mine a long *** time ago.... its baaaad

 

o so after i posted that last post i went to see what we had an man they don't have crap one dealership had a plain one an a 3.0 an the other dealership had two 3.0 an one fx4 but i was ugly :(

 

a volunteer at work who is a retired Ford Engineer (plant engineer, not vehicles) said a friend of hers that works on the ranger confirmed they are dead after 2008. She didn't mention if it would be returning, but feels it will. FWIW.

 

I say go with the Black Manual Sport, that just sounds like fun!

 

My local Ford Dealer hasn't had a Ranger on the lot in the past 6 months! I drive past every week or so and they don't have crap. I asked them about the Ranger and I acted like I wanted to buy one. They just say "we can order you one but hey look a this F-150" I'm like f*** that truck. I said Ranger not F-150. If I wanted a full size I'd ask for one. Don't try and sell me some other heap of metal when I want the small heap for less. Then they go on saying how safe and great the F-150 is. I then tell him I want small, compact, somewhat fuel efficient, powerful, truck. I want a mini truck on roids like the Ranger not some hugh *** V8 traielr hauler. After a few minutes I just walk away while he is talking. I freaking hate stealerships and their crap.

 

what are they going to do when they get rid of them? guess every one will have to go gm if the want a small truck

 

i want an 08 sport!

 

I'd look at the Colorados and Canyons, but if those are crappy, I'd be buying rice. aI don't buy Dodge vehicles. I'd probably get a Taco or Frontier. I try to buy American brands but if they don't have what I want they lose.

Its funny I see this thread I stopped at the dealer I bought my ranger at in june. Its a smaller dealer not one of those huge huge ford dealers but they do move a decent amount of vehicles.

When I bought my truck they had a couple ranger they had a black 2wd reg cab 2.3 auto and my reg cab 2.3 5speed in vista blue.. Really only options on the way they order them is sirius radio and slider and tinted window and my truck was the only one optioned with a limited slip...

I stopped there today they have about 6 trucks or so about the usual but seeing alot more 2wd trucks with 2.3 in them then the usual all 4x4 ext cabs you used to see in the past.

I know they had my identical truck down there about a month ago down to the color and options and price I was pissed about it because in 06 and 07 the xlt's came with the black bumpers and grills and to get the chrome grills and painted bumpers u had to get the appearance package. Well on the 08 xlt's they made it standard chrome grill and painted bumper which i really wanted and the 08 i saw on the lot was my exact truck actually they had 2 of them which really made me mad and they were both gone when i looked today so the trucks up here are selling, atleast the 2wd single cabs with the 2.3 in them, I get tired of seeing the ext cabs 2wd's with the 3.0 and 4x4's decked out and glad to be seeing alot less of them on the lots like it used to be

 

Since I have been in South Dakota I have been to the local ford dealer many times (My Explorer is a huge POS) and not once have I seen a New ranger there. Not once. And this isn't a small dealership. The Ford Dealership I worked at that is the largest dealer in MN and 17th in the country, used to have two rows of rangers when I bought my 01 and 04, if you go there now they will have about three. It is the same with crown vics. They used to be popular, but with no real redesign the public doesn't want to buy a new truck that for all purposes could get confused with a 7 year old truck.

a few weeks i stopped in at the dealership in gulfport and they didn't have a single ranger on the lot... not that i would ever buy another since i want something that can tow a boat

 

our dealership has got nothing as well

 

its been down hill for over 2 years

when i purchased my 03 there had to be 50 rangers to pick from of all colors,shapes and options..
two years later i went back looking for the same truck in a 4.0 and there was 3 rangers on the lot all 3.0 and they wonted 8 grand more than when i purchased mine ..

so i said screw that ill run the wheels off mine

i think 03 was there last good year for sales

 

My dealership has 6 of the 2008 Rangers. 5 fleet looking trucks (in various colors though) and 1 black FX4. Thats it though. When I bought my truck they had bookoos of Rangers. :(

 

Yeah it sucks, the largest Ford dealer in Metro Detroit only has fleet trucks....

 

sounds pretty much the same all over. A bare bones fleet truck is fine for what I am looking for. I can't use the 2.3 manual in my application though.

What I was hoping to find was a 3.0 ext cab auto vinyl floor with no power windows.

 

^^^Wayne, you know that it would be no power windows, mirrors and locks, right?

 

You know it isn't anymore money to order the truck you want right? I have ordered all of my new vehicles (although the 04 ranger they found one identical to my order in Chippewa falls so they dealer traded it so I didn't have to wait 6 weeks)

lol. yes. I have 4 Rangers now. Need another. Most are for my granite business. I bought 3 of them in 2002-2003. I need to start the cycle of replacing them and spreading out the years so I don't get in a situation where I need 3 at one time.

 

John, I may do that. They do have a 4.0 long bed single cab available which would be a good workhorse for what I use it for. At least they did in 2007. That would be perfect if cheap enough. Not to mention- who else has a longbed single cab 4.0?

 

What are you going to do if/when they stop making the Rangers?

 

I'll have to see what they replace it with Trent. If I get one now I can hold out a couple of years for the Ranger replacement, or resort to used trucks for a while if I get in a crisis.
