coolant reservoir??

weather in the 40's and below up here in western new york.

for some reason, my coolant reservoir seems to empty after i fill it to the cold fill level on it.

i have been filling it every 2 weeks or so....only been driving truck roughly 3-4 days per week.

what could be causing this?

i dont see any signs of leaking.

you have a leak somewhere check your coolent pump it would be seeping out of the weep hole which in that case your pump is going..

hmmm.. ok open the hood. look down you will see the fan... on the back it has a round rod bolted to the motor.. what it is bolted too is the coolent pump.. on top of the pump there is a small hole like 1/8-2/8th round its called a weep hole if there is sign of coolent coming out there is a problem also check your upper and lower coolent hoses they could be slowly leaking

well i noticed my weep hole is on the bottom of the pump, and it doesnt look like it is leaking from there even though it may be hard to tell froma small hole like that.

i fill the reservoir back up and have some cardboard sitting underneath truck for now after driving to see if i get a puddle.....there was a puddle under the truck on the fron passenger side this morning but it was not underneath the h2o pump.

tryign to find wet spots underneath on hoses and stuff but hard to tell right now.

It is possible it was just low to begin with and it is sucking up the water you put in the tank. If you open the radiator cap with the tank empty AND THE ENGINE COLD, is it full?

my neighbor came over and i looked underneath the truck and the rubber at the bottom of the radiator on the passenger side was wet, so he told me the radiator is the problem.

i am just debating wheather i should get a new one and install it with new hoses or should i let it go til it dies, taking the chance of engine problems possibly.

just patch it up... youve got 140k on it so it was bound to happen... just start saving and run it into the ground...

140k?

you mean almost 164,000 miles

i am not really worried about it, i will prob just keep checking the level and adding some instead of spending $120+ ona new one and new hoses and clamps and crap.

truck sat overnight and went out today to check it in the rain.

radiator was still full, reservoir might have went down alittle bit.

once ground dries, i will start looking for leaks again.

for now, it aint broke, so i aint fixing it.
