Clean Seats?

How are people keeping thier seats clean....

My seats are the only thing cloth in my truck as I have an edge (rubber floors)

I was thinking of buying something like this....

http://www.amazon.com/Bissell-1200B-...1858473&sr=8-3
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA280_.jpg

This would be nice because I have a ton of carpet in my Evo I can use it there too...

I tried using a Bissel steam cleaner on my seats and it didnt work at all. The way the material is it doesnt hold water like regular cloth does to clean the material. I haven't tried on of those Spotbots yet.

hmmm - you might have just saved me 80 bucks... any other ideas?

04blackedge May 26, 2008 09:46 PM

I haven't found any yet, I might try just some soap and water tomorrow or see if my mom knows anything that will do the job. Mine are pretty dirty though.

I have the spot bot I like it, it works really well and it's easy to move around

I've got something similar to that, use it on moms car a good bit, leaves it smelling like a new car...

04blackedge May 26, 2008 10:17 PM

Yours seats are a different material aren't they? It worked fine on my girlfriends Sentra seats, but not on the Edge seats.

Casper98 May 26, 2008 10:38 PM

yup it's the same one you posted

bwester04 May 26, 2008 11:17 PM

Are the 04+ seats harder to keep clean vs 98-03 seats? My 2000 had the 'tweed' like fabric and it did great against stains and the such.. just curious.

04blackedge May 26, 2008 11:25 PM

Heres what my edge seats look like. The material is weird, I don't know what it is.

Jp7 May 27, 2008 03:10 AM

Hahahahaha "tweed" material...

I can take a detail picture of what mine look like. Mine aren't really that dirty but they don't look 'brand spanking new' anymore (well my drivers one anyways) - I like to keep my entire truck looking like day 1 (I detailed the engine for the 2nd time this month yesterday) - I am eventually going to replace the seats with Bride seats but right now all my serious modding money have been going into the evo (just bought 3.5" intercooler, 2.5" Lower/Upper Intercooler Pipe, Intake, Minibattery Kit and Camshafts)

Best way I've found is to take the covers off the seat and throw them in the washing machine then let them air dry over night. I'm actually taking mine to the dry cleaners in the near future, I helped a lady on the side of the highway that was in labor, her water broke while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

If u are trying to clean the seats try this stuff called odorban, it works great. It will also leave the seats smelling nice.

Yep. Old pic, but you can see why I say "tweed" heh. http://images1.snapfish.com/23232323...5%3B3%3Aot1lsi

My seats are dirty as heck too. I don't think they've actually been cleaned since the truck was new. Everytime I try to clean them it just makes them look worse so I just gave up.

No - mine are different...

04blackedge May 27, 2008 06:16 PM

Wow, what do yours look like? I figured all 04 edges would be the same seats.

FMD May 28, 2008 03:20 AM

cleaning the seats is rather easy, actually.

Easiest way is to remove the seats.

but, you can alos do it in the truck.

you need:

bucket
HOT water
mild dish soap
scrub brush
wet/dry shop vac

use the brush to 'drip' soapy water onto the seat, and scrub with brush, takes time, as the water soaks in pretty fast. then, when your all done with that seat, use the shop vac to suck up the water... itll take about 3hrs for the seats to be dry, and they come out like new.

I gotta do this to mine.. again

Jp7 May 28, 2008 05:37 AM

Mine are similar but I have a grid design in the fabric - the basic geometry is the same however.

04blackedge May 28, 2008 06:00 AM

Do you have a pic?
