Cluster swap to gain a tach, will it work??
I have a 99 Ranger Super Cab XLT with the 3.0 automatic. It hs the "standard" insturment cluster wthout the factory tach. Can I swap a cluster from a Ranger/Explorer that has a tach and will it work? I'm not sure if Ford pre-wired all of them with a tach lead or it would involve re-wiring my truck in that case I would just buy an aftermarket tach.
Second question is I saw a Ranger on Craigslist that appeared to have 16" Explorer wheels on it?? Will these fit without problems? Suggestions? All help is appreciated! Thanks, Kenny. |
I did it in my 97 and it worked.

Can I swap out the locker out of a Ranger 4x4 into my 2wd to help with the snow we have here? I really don't want to swap the whole rear end if I don't have to and get into trying to find u joints to fit it ect.

pull the ring gear off of the old carrier, put it on the new one. set the lash, check pinion angle just incase and you're good to go. |
Did all the other guages work fine as well?

Do you know which year Rangers had the 7.5 with a posi? Mine is a 99 with the 3.0 automatic (super cab)
