Clutch replacment help needed

I have a 2000 ranger 4 cyl. Does anyone know how to take the gear shifter off to lower the transmission. There is a stud sticking out of the top of the transmission and the gear shift adaptor that looks like a gooseneck with a threded rod that runs through it. How do you get the gooseneck detached from the transmission stud.

Loosen the nut (17mm IIRC) and use it to hammer out the stud that holds the shifter to the trans. That nut simply holds a tapered stud that sometimes takes a few good whacks to get it out. Use the nut to protect the end threads.
