which tools do you leave in your truck?
What do you guys have behind your reg cab seats?
After 2 weeks of ownership, I can think of at least 8 times I wish I had certain amenities with me, so instead of putting a sub behind the seats, I'm going to secure certain tools.
I figure I shold have at least...
-a 4-way lug wrench and jack
-a can of fix-a-flat
-a compact $30 toolset with US-sized ratchets, wrenches, screwdrivers, and pliers
-extra fuses and miscellaneous fasteners (frequently used screws, nuts, etc.)
-a small hammer
-jumper cables
-an ice scraper
-flashlight
-shop rag
-extra pen, notepad, and maybe some emergency cash
Does this sound sufficient? Can anyone think of anything else I might need?

I keep all my tools (litterally) in my Bronco when I go out, because you never know what's going to break next.
Ratchet straps would be another good thing to throw in there. I keep about 5 in my toolbox and they've come in handy quite a bit.
Tow straps are also a good idea, incase for some reason you or somebody goes off the road and gets stuck. I have those and also a Hi-lift with a self recovery kit for the Bronco, so that I can pull myself out if such an occasion ever occurs.

im gonna second the water and the ratchet straps. i cant count the # of times a ratchet strap has come in handy.
i, personally, have one of those jumper cable kits that are hooked up to a battery (as opposed to hooking up to another car) with a built in air compressor... it's pretty frickin' sweet. haven't needed it yet and i also keep a spare set of jumpers (standard kind) in case someone else needs a jump (dont want to waste the battery on that thing in case an emergency does actually arise.
anyway, all that stuff takes up a lot of space so i just keep it all in my low-pro toolbox =)

I had one of thoes Jump Boxes with the Air Comp. Mine didn't hold a charge very long, and I never used it. After a while the internal battery would not even charge anymore. I ended up giving it away to a friend. He was going to see if he could replace the battery, but he couldn't. So he tossed it.

1 3" Tow Strap, 2 2" Tow Straps, a couple of Clevises, Duct Tape, WD-40, Shovel, Hi-Lift, Jumper Cables, First Aid Kit, Zip Ties, Jump Box (no air compressor, but mine holds a charge for a good six months), a 12V air compressor (it sucks but it's for emergency only), 4 ratchet straps, 2 extra bottles of oil, a couple rags, matches (sealed up to keep the water out) and for awhile I had my 225 set of sockets and wrenches back there, but took it out cause I was working on the truck awhile back and it never found its way back in there.
The TP and the water are really good ideas that I never really thought of though. Usually bring water when going offroad, but haven't done much of that lately.

Matco roadside kit which includes a driver with bit set, basic sockets and ratchet, pliers, those orange reflective triangles
food, always gotta have a granola bar or 2 in the glove and some water
napkins for wiping various things
extra cell phone charger
blanket (which normally covers my sub box up.

Too much:
Hi lift.
Hammers, screwdrivers, various pliers
Full set (SAE/metric) of 1/2" drive sockets, breaker bars and ratchet handles
Full set of open and box end wrenches, some with the very fine ratcheting box ends that only require 5 degrees of back rotation.
750 watt power inverter and electric impact gun
grease gun
jack stands and two different hydraulic jacks
ODB2 code reader
jumper cables
digital voltmeter
Torque wrench
two jaw gear puller
specialty brake tools
probably other stuff that I don't remember, lol. Like I said -- too much.
I never know when something will break offroad or on and I like to be as ready as I can. I also carry a spare alternator.
Of course I have a supercab and it's WAY behind my seats in the toolbox in the bed, lol...
