coolant leak, possibly oil

Ok so I've been noticing a steady leak of coolant for a while now, and I just recently found it. It's coming out of the timing cover.

What should I do to fix it, and is this common?

are you sure its coming from the timing cover and not the water pump?

Toreador4x4 01-08-2011 09:47 AM

Sounds like you have a 3.0.

Remove the timing cover making sure not to break the oil pan gasket. Change the timing cover gasket and the crank seal.

Make sure you use GRAY RTV in the corners of the timing cover before re-installing it.

Yeah I have the 3.0.

Do I have to pull the harmonic balancer or what ever it is to replace the gasket?

Toreador4x4 01-10-2011 05:13 PM

yes and water pump and most of the front accessories

coleary15 01-13-2011 10:39 AM

should i buy a flywheel puller or what?

is the only way to get my fan off by using an air chisel? or is there an easier way?

Toreador4x4 01-13-2011 11:06 AM

air chisel is the easiest and you may need a harmonic balancer puller

wforanger02 01-13-2011 06:37 PM

they make a wrench for your fan, you can get 1 at advance auto parts for like $25

Toreador4x4 01-13-2011 06:41 PM

ic you can get it off with a wrench it is the "safest" way....if you cant youll need to start turning it with the air hammer

Is there a how-to on this? Bc I don't wanna screw it up lol
