to crank or not??

Ok I have been reading alot and rarely ever post but I have been thinking for awhile now to crank my T bars to get somewhat of a lift.. but I would like to know the pro's and cons about cranking the bars..would it be worth it or not..what would you do???? I plan down the line to get a body lift but that wont be for a few months..I would like to run about 32" tires possibly 33's max... Im running 255's now and I would like bigger..thanks for the help

my t bars have been cranked for about 2 years (2 inches) and nothing has happened yet, with the exception of a stiffer ride. i run 265's (32's) i'll probably go to 285's when the time comes.

Get the 33's. They will fit with the T-bars at max with no scrubbing in normal driving conditions. That way you'll have a big enough tire when you get your body lift.

I thank everyone for the replys..Im still up in the air and not sure what I want..anyone has before and after pics from the side they want to share?? maybe if I see the difference that would sway my decision..I do use my 4x4 alot during the winter and when I go off the road to hunt..Im starting to like the idea's of the 33's..now I need to decide what size rims I want..I know Im gonna go with 15's but how wide..I guess I want that wider stance

Crank 'em up and if you dont like it then crank them back down. With 33's you should get 15x10's

well when u crank the bars, you take less give out of the bars, so when u hit bumps they dont move as much, hence a stiffer ride, on the flipside, this could cause them to fatigue sooner and break faster than spec'd by ford. the OTHER thing, is once u cracnk em, u gotta get an allignment done, now, i have had to beaten into my head by my dad and his best friend - whos a super mechanic - whos now dead, that getting an alignment altering the factory settings is bad news, and its never the same afterwards.

A little crank is ok. A lot of crank leads to a rough ride. I cranked mine all the way and drove it like that for about a year. For off-road use you have to decide on clearing taller tires and maybe not getting stuck vs a hard bouncy ride.

holy jesus no.. 15x10 an 33x12.5 are good when you have a lift IE superlift or body... not on a stock truck with just t-bars maxed..

no more then like 3.75BS on a 15x8 with 33x12.5 with t-bar max then a decent amount of trimming if you have fender flares...

IMO if you arnt going to lift it IE superlift body or anything else just T-bar... give it a good crank like 1-3 turn some 15x8 between 3.75-3.25BS and some 32x11.5x15 your truck will look alot better and you wont have massive rubbing issues

LOL dont listen to this... sounds like Mark is in a grumpy mood. you want to crank both of them evenly being one side is always in more then the other...

its not give. on listen in essense what you are doing is changing the static ride height of the truck when you crank you are preloading the bar more which in turn moves the truck upward, thus causing the suspension to not travel the same think of it like this from the factory its adjusted to 3" up and 3" down movement, after say cranking the bars and getting 2" lift, you now have 1" up travel and 5" down travel. now #'s where just pulled out of my *** to explain so dont think that part is correct but thats just so you get the idea.. so when you hit a bump the supension doesnt want to move upward like it used too...
