crashed.... (pics added 56k no)

just crashed my truck...doing about 35 down a road on my way home from work. i hit a patch of ice and went off the road into a tree. its my first accident so i freaked out..the fender on my drivers side was pushed up into the door so i couldn't get out. i just sat there in the dark for 5 minutes then some people that lived at a house across the street came out. the guy pulled on the door so i could slide out, the whole family was really nice to me. it was on a pretty steep hill so getting out of the passenger side wasn't an option. i called my parents and the police and both showed up at about the same time (i was less than a mile away from my house).. then the tow truck came and i watched them take my truck away. it looked pretty bad...i hope its not totaled.. i took a bunch of pics with my cell phone but i dont know how to get those on the computer. i'm so depressed, this sucks.

I hope you are ok. You know the saying your most likely to have an accindent near home and you really never believe it until it happens. As for the airbags did you hit the sensor to set them off. I mine never went off and the sensor was pushed back. Just be glad they didnt because they are expensive.

There is no airbag sensor as you would expect in say the bumper.
Its an inertia based sensor . If you Stop hard/fast enough they go off
but only if its a forward collision. if its sideways etc they wont go off usually.

That sucks. I expect you to be REALLY sore tomorrow and maybe worse in 2 days. You dont realize how much you hurt yourself because it happens so fast.

You hurt a Ranger! For that you, DKM will be sentenced to 10 years in a Federal Pound Me In the A** Prison. Seriously though, glad your OK. Trucks are easy to fix people take a bit more work and expetise.

Glad you o.k
Be glad those bags didn't go off....sure they save your face from the steering wheel, but there's nothing to stop your face from the airbag dust.....talk about chemical burns. And they cost a few bucks to be reinstalled.

I was in a front end collision last spring and my airbags didn't deploy......thankfully. But it was weird.....the collision was around 35mph as well.

like everyone else on here man, i'm really glad you're ok...hey, the airbags not going off is a good thing....most insurance companies consider that being a total loss if the bags pop...and they usually don't even have to do an appraisal...some of them just have to hear you say they popped!!!

Airbag deployment is based on deceleration. If your collision is such that the deceleration isn't enough to warrent deployment, they don't go off.

sh1tty deal man, at least you walked away from it. hard to say if it's totaled or not, that's up to the adjuster.

glad you were not hurt
truck looks fixable
if the bags blew it would be very close to total
you get about %70 of value for repair

Truck doesn't look all that bad but its still bad. How many miles does it have on it? It looks new too so they will probably fix it. And is that your air freshener in the first pic?
