185mph? 3400lbs?
At 140 that truck as it sits is going air-born! I don't care if the video creator said it has 680hp, No ranger without severe body/aero mods is going to stay on the ground at those speeds regardless of what suspension they run.

jay, d is NOT a magazine mechanic. lets get that strait right away. he and i have done ALOT to his truck. and believe me, he knows a thing or 2000 about these trucks! the proof is in the pics of some of his work over the years. 03rangerinroch truck looked COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from when it rolled into d's garage. 'nuff said

Guys..
Mustangs are built for speed. Body lines and the designs of the hoods/upper decks are considered. Look at those cars/trucks that run out on the salt flats.
All it would take is just a small uncorrected under-draft and ANY vehicle can go airborn.
Ranger trucks are not at all designed to be ' aero dynamic '. Even with extra nose weight. Sure it will help some, but 160mph? 185mph?
The engine is quite capable of making the energy needed to achieve such speeds, but the rest of the truck needs to stay on the ground in order to get there.

They masked off half the air intake areas on the front of the car and created additional air-damming.
Take a good look at this thing..
The rear is done nicely. 9inch with double adjustments on coils. Not much better out there for a drag vehicle. But the front? Its probably built for weight transfer as hes running welds with slicks out back. More then likely a 90/10 setup with Leads on the frame somewhere near the rear axle for balancing the launch. Its a coil setup. Basic xlt ( similar to what I'm going for ). No body work at all. Its 100% stock.
Ever drove down a highway at 75mph into a headwind and been moved around? A 4x4 ranger would have more weight then this truck and I bet MANY people lookin at this have been ' moved around ' by forces under 100mph additivly.
Even lowered so my front cross member sits right around 7 inches off the ground, at 110, things get loose. With brand new balljoints , T-bars and tires, things get iffy. 120 it gets a lot worse. By 130, you better pray your going in a very straight line , no wild winds come up and theres no potholes.
These trucks are just NOT aerodynamic. The F150 Lightnings had trouble at 150 with winds and theres quite a few on the road making 600+hp/TQ numbers out there. They also had a better weight distribution/advantage then a Ranger.

Hes saying this truck will go 185mph at 3400rpm's. I'm sure the engine is capable of making the energy, but the truck won't be on the ground.

This is another reason why I'm going after my own suspension. I can launch and get going, but once that 110mph mark is hit, smaller/more aero friendly cars just walk way. I'm sure my engine has enough energy to go for more.. its only a switch and a 'noid away on the top end of a higher gear, but it won't stay on the ground.

D, I get what your saying, and I doubt 185mph in it. Hell I do 75 in my 4wd Ranger and I get scared by the way it drives.
I have a feeling the number is from a dyno, which is in no way shape or form a place to be bragging about your speed.
I think it's genius. I'd love to have a 6BT in my truck, but the weight, and work aint worth it.

That was in a VETTE that sat a few inches off the ground.. not some ' pickup truck '.
I think it's genius. I'd love to have a 6BT in my truck, but the weight, and work aint worth it.

Opinions are like butt holes we all got them. This guy could be quoting dyno numbers, could be full of crap, and could be telling the truth. Fact is no one here knows, which make the “I know more about this than you” argument is kind of pointless. Whether it goes 180mph or not don't matter the truck is badass and will probably walk anyone's truck on this site.
