dammit!!! Truck is acting werid........again

So here it goes...When im driving along and i have to stop, i throw it into nuetral (its a 5 speed) and i start braking, the RPMS still continue to climb (and i have my foot off the gas pedal). After ive come to a stop in Nuetral, my RPMS are still very high and it takes about 15 seconds (after im already at a dead stop) for the RPMS to come back down. So bascially, my RPMS keep climbing or idling high even when i put in the clutch or put in nuetral and my foot is off the gas brake. Ive heard that it could be my Idle air control valve, or a vacuum leak somewhere. any help please!??!!?? lol

Have you tried cleaning it with Air Intake Cleaner? If you have it might be bad so just change it out.

That link is for an Exploder but the valve on the Ranger looks the same.

no clue how high they idle, i dont have a tach, but lets put it this way, when im driving down the street and i have to shift, i dont even have to give it gas when i put it into the next gear. i just have to push the clutch, move it into gear and let out the clutch cuz the RPMs are so high. And i tried cleaning out the IAC valve, but that helped only a little.

youve got a vacuum leak to the brakes. when you press the brakes it pulls vacuum from the engine, but because there is a leak the engine wants to rev higher to accomodate. there is a hose that goes from the pcv to the brake booster. make sure the pcv is good and the hose has no leaks. to check for leaks pull it off and put some water in it. if water escapes you have a leak. the end.
