Wow.

I hope you get your lights back. I wish justice would be made, but the justice system in this country sucks. I realize that there is no good way to absolutely prove that they are your lights though, unless you engraved them. Even if you did prove that they were stolen, justice would not be served.

Good luck. Sounds like you're taking a smart, cautious path, not a wreckless and ILLEGAL one like many people here have posted. Thieves suck, yes, but retaliating by vandilization is ridiculous.

IF you don't get the lights back, and do choose to retaliate, be smart enough not to link it back to yourself (I.E. Destroying the taillights, especially after filing a police report about them.)

Keep us posted

Yeah i gotta do the cautious and LEGAL route here. I still believe that those are my lights, but dispensing satisfaction on one moron is not worth going to jail over. I have a clean record, and I would like to keep it that way lol.

I have a 7mm Mag that is sigted at 100yds.... His truck will never know what happened... Ive also got friends with silenced assault rifles they are very quiet. Your welcome to em... Though a bit illegal in Calli...

Just kidding man

Yeah wait and talk to the guy. Chances are now he is getting nervous he is gonna be found out since his buddy prolly cued him in that you know whats up

Get some muscle to go with you when you confront.... If anything were to break out make sure they swing first and make sure you have someone on Public property or in you aunts yard video tape it to prove they swung first

You're handling this good. I would have already stole them back or bashed them in.

Hope you get everything straight.

well i paint too and i also did my tails with the spray nightshades....i got mine shiny and smooth BUT you CAN tell a HUDGE difference between a REALLY NICE nightshade job and when you tint clear and spary'em.....I agree, as much as it would make you feel better to knock his block so far he'll have to pull his pants down to brush his teeth....just chalk it up as a lesson learned and just move on..whats done is done and they will get their's....maybe one day when he's at a store the wind will blow a shoppin cart into it. I would but a defining mark or something on them in a inconspicous area and leave it at that.

Well yesterday my cousin was home and they got a knock on their door.

It was the guy that owns the white Ranger and a buddy of his. They came to talk to them to express the fact that they did not appreciate "two big Mexicans coming over to punk his cousin". I was not aware that seeing some dude walking to his truck in the morning and asking a few questions about this situation was considered 'punking' someone. Nor did I ever really consider my buddy Pablo big. Sure he's about 5'9 and over 200 lbs, but hey, the only reason he was even there is because I needed a ride over to get my damn truck. Maybe his El Camino on 22's just looks gangsta. Oh well. I am 6'0 tall and somewhere north of 250lbs so yeah I see how I can get confused for big though.

Either way, he expressed his disappointment and brought over his can of nightshade as proof that he tinted his lights. Of course, I know he tinted A set of lights, but those looked like ****. "My" lights turned up on his truck later on and that first set mysteriously disappeared. He also mentioned that if I came over again there was gonna be "trouble" ooooooh Im shaking in my ****ing boots.

However, in the interest of making sure these jackasses don't start messing with my Aunt's or cousin's cars or home, I think I am gonna have to chock this one up as a lesson and move on. The Cops arent doing a damn thing and well, for some $100 lights, I don't really expect them to. Karma is a ***** and I hate to hope anything bad on anyone, but people get what they deserve in the end. I just know if anything happens to his or any of his friends trucks, It is not of my doing, nor will I be involved in any way. I don't have to risk my well being or property or that of my family to prove a point.

Screw this guy. I hope he gets an equipment violation.

Let it cool off for a while. Heck give it 10 months to a year. Then if they're still around and you know what he drives have some fun with it......

These low lifes don't need proof. They will just screw whoever they want. If they think or believe it was him then it was. Kind of obvious.

There's a police report in which he claimes the lights were stolen. If they get smashed, it'll be quite obvious wouldn't it? Not that it would hold up in court, but its obvious enough that it'd cause trouble.

lol sorry this happened, but this is an example of waiting too long. Should of broke his ****ing nose. what does bashing in his lights do? or damaging his truck? You would be as big of a b!tch as him.

then....ESPECIALLY if someone came to MY families house, and said their would be trouble. I would of ****ed up him, his friend, and anyone that looked at me wrong from that property. Sometimes, just sometimes, violence IS the key. But it doesnt sound like ur that type of guy. ****ty. Hope u learned your lesson tho. either lock down ur ****, so u can avoid this kinda mess, or take matters into your own hands when the situation is fit. (def seems like the situation was fit..doesnt take a genius to tell u that the cops weren't gonna do anything)

words cannot express the anger or frustration i know you're going through

i've been through it with my ex roommate....he trashed my house and broke and PISSED on the gauge cluster out of my old truck.....i couldn't prove it but i knew without a doubt it was him.

of course i called him out on it and of course he denied it and called me a whiny little B**** and threatened me over and over. blah blah blah

its bull**** to be pushed around and bullied but if you retaliate...YOU'RE the one in trouble. but that's our modern society and it F_CKING sucks

I would get yourself a large group of your big friends to come over to your aunts house next time your there and the white ranger is also. Then knock on the front door wait till he comes out tell him to f***off!!! Then go remove the lights from his truck and put them back on yours.

Yeah it would have set me off too but Mr Big Shot only showed up when it was only my Aunt and two female Cousins there. I never even knocked on his door asking for anyone either. The only time I had any conversation with any of them is when I saw one guy leaving in the morning and I talked with him about what happened and what I thought. I remained respectful of the guy I was talking to and never cussed at him, called him names or yelled at him. I only stated what I thought and how I believed that the white Ranger had my set of lights that were mysteriously stolen. I also mentioned to him that nightshade does not usually have the same appearance of 'real' paint.

I mean, I'm sure my 10 years in the refinishing field and the fact that I do technical ****ing support, troubleshooting and training for a MAJOR paint company means I don't know what I'm talking about. Nevermind that I painted the god damn lights myself. The only way I know that I can prove they are not nightshade is a solvent test. However, I guess in the end, all that will prove is that they are not a spray can finish on the lights and not 100% prove they are indeed mine.

I suppose, in the end I could be wrong after all. If I was indeed proven wrong I would have no problem admitting it. However, I see very little chance of that happening or even the opportunity for me to do any real investigation beyond what has already been done.

Let that be a lesson to all of y'all. Get some security screws if you have custom lights, and use your tailgate lock if you do have one.

okay so you have limited slip so you can leave some nice tracks in his front yard, and while your at it he doesn't need all 32 or so pounds of air in his tires.

also in the middle of the night pop over there take the lights out and make a defining mark on them, tell the cops to pull them off and that will prove there yours.

I find this tread really really amusing. Not what happened to you Steve, thats ****ing wrong. But its funny to see all the hard asses here telling you to go hit them with a bat over some $100 taillights.

You did the right thing. Confronted them LEGALLY. They are obviosly ****ting their pants right now, and your right Karma is going to hand out the punishment.

I mean who knows? the cops might actually do their job. I can tell you for sure, if you go with a bunch of "big guys" as a few have suggested, then they are going to do their job.

Exactly. Im 28, thats too old to be going around and trying to start fights with guys that are probably barely old enough to buy themselves a beer.

wouldn't it be great if that tool got a ticket for having them on his truck. LOL!

when he came over did you tell him that it looks suspisious that your truck was left there the sae weekend that they painted and your tails went and grew legs and his truck grew a set?

even though you've given up on the police, let them kno that you made contact and they responded and how.

+1. It would be good to document. That way if anything happens, there is already a documented incident.
