Ranger To The Rescue

Well the other night my g.f and i pull into her house and her mom walks out and tell me to go up to her aunts and pull her uncle out of the ditch. He got stuck while plowing. Well i get up there and her pap is there will this GMC 1500. we go up to the GMC 1500 that's sucks and her paps him most of the way out but cant finish the job. I hook to the front of the her paps truck and go into first in 4h and get it tight and hold it the floor. I just start moving the wheel back and forth. Finaly my tires dug threw the snow and got the gravel and bit and took off and got him out.


I was impressed with my tuck for having 3.27 gears and 31s and mud tires.

Just my little story I thought I would share. Everyone didn't think my truck would would much.

That was one of the longest run-on sentences I have ever seen.

yeah the guy with the plow hasn't been plowing long so he goes to fast and all this **** you shouldnt do while plowing. I was pleased with my truck. I tired to get in front of him to pull him forward and i didn't want to slide into his truck, so I started to spine so i backed up. Once we got him out he told me i should get some skinnier tires and i told him hell no i love my wides.

I didn't say this b4 this guy hates fords with a passion and so once we got him out my g.f's gram walked over to him and said "I don't even want to hear you talk **** about fords again because it just pulled your a$$ out." lol Her pap asked told him that again this morning too when he saw him lol.


The mud rovers on my truck just dug threw the **** and hooked up.

I have my own rescue story from today to add.

I was out today doing a side job picking up and delivering a big screen tv for a client. On my way home, I stopped for a coffee and headed back on my way. As I turn off the highway onto the road that takes me up to my town, I see a Corolla nose first into the ditch with the back wheels sticking up in the air.

As I slow down and gawk at the scene, I spot that a fellow Ranger owner with a stepside ext cab 2wd Edge has stopped to help and is trying to pull them out with some thin little rope. So I pull over and ask if everyone's okay and if they need any help. I get out and survey the car stuck in the ditch and look at the string the guy is trying to use, so I decide to go and get my tow rope out of my truck.

I bring it back and give it to the guy with the Ranger and we hook up the vehicles and he starts to pull...which just ended up with him doing a big burnout in the middle of the road and the car moving about 6 inches. lol. The guy with the Ranger gets out and is like "wow,this guy's really stuck,I don't think we're getting him out."

I looked at him with a big grin and say "Mine's 4 wheel drive, I'll get him out." We hooked up my truck to the car, put it in 4 Low and after 3 big tugs I got the car out no sweat.

However, Corollas don't have rear tow hooks, so we had to wrap the rope around the rear axle. The rope tightened so much and wedges itself between the axle and exhaust that we couldn't untie the knot, so I had to cut my tow tope. I didn't mind though,since mine has the clevis hooks on both ends, but we didn't use the hooks,because I knew better and just tied the rope in loops to make sure they wouldn't come undone and snap back. So now I have an excuse to go buy a new proper tow rope.

After I got him out, both the Corolla driver and the Ranger guy thanked me, and the Corolla guy gave me $20 for my troubles. I didn't want to accept it as pulling someone out of a ditch to me is just being a good samaritan and doing a good deed, but the guy felt bad that I had to cut my tow rope and wanted to reimburse me for a new one,lol.

That's the first ditch pull I've done with this truck,and that wa sprobably the first of a few I expect to do this winter. I'm always prepared with my truck,as I have tow ropes, ropes,tie downs,tool kits,emergency and first aid kits,flashlights and stuff. Living out in the boonies,you never know what to expect.

+2.5 for Rangers!! (1 for Downey,1 for me and .5 for 2wd Edge guy who tried lol)

My Cooper Discoverer STT's are freakin awesome in the snow. Well, they aren't a true mud terrain, they're rated M+S, but they are designed more to be like an M/T.

Your wrong, my bfg m/ts are amazing in the snow. They self clean wayyyyyy better than a/ts.

The only situation the mud terrains suck is stopping. Other than that they're amazing, beat all terrains hands down which is really saying something.

Thats odd because all ive read on this forum is people saying mud terrains are horrible in the snow.

Yeah I was a little apprehensive but they work really good. In deep stuff they just dig and dig, I've been through headlight deep snow and drifts over the hood already this winter. Gotta leave yourself plenty of room for stopping though. Abs seems to be less intrusive than it was with the all terrains as well.

Here is my Story. Back when I had my 04 Level II I was at a Dog Field trial (don't know what it is, use Google) and a guy showed up on Friday with an RV towing a horse trailer. He parked it in the field at the base of two hills ans set up camp. Come Saturday it started raining and rained all weekend. Every time I walked by I noticed the RV wheels slowly disappearing in the mud.

Come Sunday they load there horses and gear and try to pull out and to there amazement they bury it up to the RV skirting. Well every truck there was hooked up to a horse trailer except mine so My Dad said pull your ranger up there and give it a try. I hooked my Strap the the tow hooks on the RV and to my Clevis. I put it in 4 low and First gear. I worked the clutch just right and walked that RV and trailer out of the mud with three horses in the trailer. The little ranger that could indeed.

Yup. I find with my Discoverers, they just dig through snow like a paddle through water. When it comes time to stop, yes, they are a little sketchy, and I find my ABS also doesn't kick in til last minute.

They're great tires for driving through this crap, but you still need to be cautious when slowing down and stopping.

Our trucks never get as much credit as they deserve. I love rooting for the underdog. Good story too.

LOL....Rescue Number 2 for me today!

Just got back in from it...This guy in a Sierra 4x4 was making a u-turn on my street infront of my house and somehow managed to ditch his truck. I heard a door slam outside my house so I looked out to see who was there and I see a truck in the ditch lol.

So I run out and ask the guy if he needs a tow, so I went out and fired up the truck and after a couple pulls got him out,haha.

Yay,now I have a Chevy towing story!

My grammar is fixed for everyone that was *****ing. Any who my Mud Rovers work great in the snow but they don't stop as well and i don't have ABS to help me so i do alot of pumping and using the gears to slow me down.
