Dash Cubby - how many would like one?

Hey guys. I've got a cubby designed (CAD) and I have spoken to a manufacturer about making them. I had thought about building one out of fiberglass, but I figure I'm probably not the only one that would like one.

So, let me ask, how many folks would want one if I had a run of them made? Judging by your responses, I'll see about getting these things manufactured.

Also, would you want LED's to light it up?

What about an AUX and Power jack so you could hook up your XM or your Ipod/MP3 player?

What about having the ability to attach your existing door to it so that it is "invisible"? (you know, like another glove box).

Oh yeah, "Where is this cubby going?"

This is a cubby that fits in the place where the cover for the passenger side airbag is now. This would only work on non-passenger side airbag equipped Rangers and Explorers.

Here is an example of what it would look like. Of course this is in a Honda Element, but if you use your imagination you'd get the picture. Let me assure you that if I went through the trouble of actually having these things made for resale then they would look as close to a stock piece as possible. No "good enough for me but not quite good enough for show" pieces.

Well if I didn't have an airbag I'd like one with everything, but I got an airbag and don't want to remove it.

Yeah, I think it may also be illegal to remove it!

I don't follow what this is for...

it fits where the cover over the PS airbag is but requires you to have removed your airbag?

what year ranger is this for I thought every ranger 95+ came with dual airbags...

Well I have a 1997 Ranger XLT regular cab and it has NO airbag on the passenger side. If you look at the cover where the airbag aught to be it will say "SRSAirbag" (or something like that) if there is an airbag.

If it doesn't say it has one, it probably doesn't.

I'm not sure about the SRS thing on the cover haven't really payed attention to it, but my truck has the PS Airbag cutoff switch so that's pretty much a dead give away. But yeah from what I've heard some fo the truck didn't come with the passenger side bag, IDK why though.

1993-1997 - same body type and interior

1996 - Passenger side air bag became OPTIONAL and has a deactivation switch to turn it off for use with a baby seat.

Mazda's had the airbag and ABS as standard on thier trucks...I guess the Japanese cared more about us than Ford did.

Come to think of it, since the truck I own was my dad's until I bought it, I'll have to call my little brothers and let them know that dad didn't really think they were worth the price of the passenger side airbag

I think its a good idea and good of you to offer it to others. I have an airbag so I'm out.
