Why not ' CD ' the cash. Take a grand, buy an older truck, do some work on it ( make it reliable ) and put the rest away to build some intrest. Take whatever you were paying ( if you had a monthly payment ) and bank that as well. In a year or 2 when you decide for yourself what you really want, what you had and more will be there for a down payment.
You might not actually have to spend the cash on a vehical.. Something might come up ( emergency ) where you might need to bail yourself out. Having expenditures around ( sock droor cash ) is always a good thing .

I would suggest a 97-99 Eclipse gst or gsx...most bang for the buck. Put a cold air on and do a little port on the turbo and your runnin about 250hp to the wheels...My friend has a 97 gst and he might have 10g invested in it and he has about 400hp to the wheels, so its a perty good chance you could get up there quick.
