Differences? 2000 to 2001 Ranger??

Is there any difference at all between the Year 2000 Ranger and the Year 2001 Ranger? Or better yet, any difference between a 2000 and a 2001 Mazda B3000? Looking to buy a Grill Guard but all the books skip years 1997 through 2000. But the pictures look the same, but it's the under carriage that really matters. Because that is where the Guard will bolt onto. Any answers are welcome!! Thanks a lot guys!

In rangers, a 98-00 is a Gen 4. 2001 marked the beginning of the Gen 5's, completely different front end look from the gen 4.

98-00 = gen 4
01-03 = gen 5

hoods, header panels, lights all differ

Post up a link to the product.

Not worried about "Cosmetic"

I'm not worried about the changes they made in 2001 for the Cosmetic Look, Just as long as everything underneath is the same (so the Brush Guard will fit perfectly, with out any modifications). Because the Guard connects to the underneath side, not any of the plastic cosmetic gear.

Umm there is no 5th gen Ranger. The 98-00 is grouped with the 01+ because the suspension and frames and bodies are the same. Facelifts and new engines do not mean new generation. Other wise we would be on like gen 7 lol.

Apparently wherever you go to school hasn't taught you that wikipedia isn't a reliable source. Go hit the BOOKS.
83-88
89-92
93-97
98-00
01-03
04-06
07-11

if you want to get technical then there are only 3 gens if you're going by frame, not 4 lul

Jason, the frames are the same from the two different years

Toreador4x4 02-16-2011 11:42 AM

83-92 frame is the same and similar to 93-97 and 98-11 frames are the same (coil spring obv different from torsion bar)

Briar 02-16-2011 12:01 PM

I'm so confused.

Toreador4x4 02-16-2011 03:45 PM

Pedro is exactly right about the GEN's of rangers based on body style and options.
I am exactly right about frame changes (lol) so to answer the OP's question, any brush guard from 98-11 will work, it may not be cut out quite right to clear the bumper but you can fix that.

I was just going off what I knew about Rangers. Question, why is it "04-06, 07-11" and not "04-05, 06-11"? I was always under the impression that it was 04-05 and 06+.

jasoncav55 02-16-2011 09:28 PM

So all in all what I got from this, is if I ordered an AfterMarket Brush Grille (which is for a 2001 and newer), it will still fit my Year 2000. I know the Cosmetic Body styles are different, but just as long as the underparts are the same. So, like the OP said before, the 2001 will fit my 2000, but it may or may not run into my bumber just a small bit, which is just an easy fix (cut). So there shouldn't be a difference from a 2000 Ranger to a 2001 Ranger. (Besides Cosmetics)?

Toreador4x4 02-17-2011 11:18 AM

all differences in 2000 to 2001 are cosmetic or powertrain differences. no frame differences
