Oil filter relocation kit. Not only relocators filter making it easier to access but also helps cool the oil AND you can setup a dual filter system for twice the filtration. Being as mechanically gifted as a Sea Otter this looks like a great idea and has jumped to near top of my mod list.
Now what do you think?

I dont know seems like a good idea but after you change your oil a couple times it seems to get easier reaching up in there I just got a filter wrench and get a good grip on it. Hahaha it says light truck applications and it list 2 diesels.

I can reach mine fine that's not the issue. The cooling and double filtration looks like a HUGE plus to me. Especially during the 65 months of hell heat here in FL..

yeah reaching mine is not a problem either.........so not gonna be the mod for me.

Um...why is no one seeing the other, more important, benefits?

lol bryan i just said what i said to irritate you.....obviously it worked. Im actually interested. Maybe not the dual but the new location.....might be worth it for the amisoil users with the 25,000 mile oil changes and the 12,000 mile filter change.....less spillage in new location!

Less spillage would be a definate plus. I hate that running stream down my arm....my engine runs so dang hot anything that cools is a good thing..

The filter on the 4.0 SOHC could not be any easier to get to. Dual filters would be nice though.

According to the picture they hookup side-by-side in a series yes. Go thru one filter then thru the second before returning to the engine. I didn't read the whole thing but according to the picture (my favorite part) that's how it works. If I can find a place to squeeze two filters in I'll work on getting it installed. Most likely I'll get Jasons help in doing this.

Yes im debating a new one as well.....it has been a while since christian said what he said in mine......i thought it was funny however.

hmm would you have to put more oil into the engine? it seems like it would take a while to go through both filters and all the lines back to the engine.. looks pretty cool tho.. also where would these be mounted...

i would think you could mount it just about anywhere... and yeah it would prob take another 3/4 to 1 quart of oil for this

Preventing the oil temperature from going too high is important for engine life. I seriously doubt that you operate your truck under conditions that would cause your oil temperature to go high enough to affect engine wear (275F+). That setup will not reduce the oil temperature much at all. If you want to cool the oil, get an oil cooler.

The overall engine temperature is regulated by the coolant thermostat. Cooling the oil will not change the operating temperature of the engine at all.


The dual filter mount in the picture puts the filters in parallel, not series. There is no real advantage to two filters unless you are running a high volume race pump or you want to run your oil for a very long change interval.

So it doesn't go thru 1 filter and then the next it just has 2 available filters to filter thru?

There is not enough surface area there to make much difference. Trying to cool the oil with those would be like trying to use a couple of house paint cans for a radiator.

Right. You can see that the manifold on the top feeds into both filters in parallel.

IMO, this would be a total waste on a production Ranger unless you think that it would make changing the oil a whole lot easier.

Also, adding two rubber hoses and four clamps to the oiling system creates the potential for leaks and oil pressure loss where it didn't exist before. If I had any interest in doing this, I would use braided oil lines with threaded AN fittings on my truck.
