Do all rangers have crappy fuel gauges?

It is basically the sending unit. Mine use to drop to 3/4 in less than 50 miles then would drop at a slower rate to 1/4 and then drop quick again to E. It would have 3 gallons reserve left in it when the light came on. I replaced the fuel pump and a new send unit is included. Now the gage drops fairly proportional all the way to E and when the light comes on there is only 2 gallons reserve fuel left in it.
Almost all fuel gages will vary when accelerating and decelerating. Inclines will also make them vary. A fuel gage is only accurate when the vehicle is on a level surface.

All vehicles have crappy fuel gauges. I would swear that on some cars I've owned the fuel tank was vee shaped, cause the gauge would stay on full for the longest time, but once it hit half a tank, look out. Just know your vehicle and fill it when it gets close to the E. If you only put 16 gallons in, then you know about how much your reserve is when it says empty.

I dont have a single issue with mine. It will drop if you stop on a hill at a light, but it comes back up within 5 mins. I dont have any quick drop issues, or holding issues. And when the light comes on I usually put in 17-18 gallons.
Strange... Maybe my truck was built on a Wednesday not Friday or Monday...

my 93 is horrible too..but i know it cost 80 bucks cdn to fill it up... and i dont have a low fuel light either. when i bought my truck, i took the greyhound to abbotsford bc then drove the truck back the same day.. and i filled up on my way outta town and you could literally watch the fuel needle go down for the first 1/4 tank, then its fine for the rest of the tank its weird. i got a 60 litre tank too.
my mom's 2000 taurus is bad too.. when just under a 1/4 tank the light will flicker on/off but you know you have fuel left..
we took dad's 93 F350 1 ton deisel 7.3L dually to alberta this past saturday and it didnt do it, was pretty good.. it also has dual tanks though... holy crap it sure liked the fuel tho... ouch had to like every 3-4 hours for fuel, even with 2 tanks..haha

Mine is fine.
I have never trusted a fuel guage once it gets down to 1/4 tank. I have always figured out how many miles gets me to a quarter tank and then fill up regardless of what the guage says.
also keep in mind the less fuel you have in the tank the more it can slosh around. Im not sure of the baffling in fuel tanks, but still.
