So violent. But yeah, crushed velvet belongs in a 64' not in an Edge. But if you want it in there, it's all you.....

It looks good but gets damaged easily and looks like crap when it does. I'd scrap it and go with suede for the headliner and visors. Center console, IMO, shouldn't be fancy. Thats where you'll spill things, drop things etc...
It gets nasty. You want something easy to clean on that.

does suede cost alot more, and does it look like crushed velvet in a way??? i am new to this so dont know.... and thanks for not bashing my idea....

Shalafi49 08-28-2005 08:07 AM

I think suede would be more expensive, but look a helluvalot better. It doesn't look like crushed velvet but it...oh geez how do I explain it..like if you brush your hand over it one direction it looks different...ok I suck...find some suede and try it yourself :)

go with leather....that has some kind of style to it...

or fiberglass the headliner....add some tv's....

crushed vevlet reminds me of dingleberry's

Shalafi49 08-28-2005 09:04 AM

I'd like to reiterate my feeling:
TV + vehicle = retarded

TippnOver 08-28-2005 09:08 AM

haha, well, i think its cool

i'm not sayin a 32" flat screen monitor...

i didnt see the point at all...then my friend got tv's in his visors, with a ps2....

then it all came to me...it was just cool as hell....how u just when from playin ps2 on the couch, to plyin ps2 at 60 mph...ya know

he never watched tv and drove, only the passengers did...

but it was awesome...

Aww man, I wasn't bashing yer idea. Just thought it wouldn't look right in a truck that's built to be tough looking.

On the other hand though, if you were lowering it and going that route, it probably wouldn't look bad, but Shalafi is right about needing something easy to clean.

im using black velvet in my truck, lol.

so far, i've done the glove box, passengerside airbag cover, and parts of my sub box. i've bought enough material to do the headliner, visors, and parts of the door panels, plus part of the center console, once i figure out it's design and build it.

but yeah, unfortunately, the material isnt durable at all really. im kinda on the verge of scratching the velvet idea and going with suede for everything instead now.(i prefer the feel of velvet to suede, which is why i went with it instead). and yes, it does damage kinda easily (main reason why i might redo everything in suede). something random like a book's corner, or something like that, could damage the material if it happened to scrape along it just right. i don't know how well it will hold up in bad weather conditions either (say it happens to get splashed by rain water as i get in/out of the truck, etc...).

anyways tho.. it's an easy material, and looks nice/feels nice, but, durabilty just plain sucks.

so, with all of that mentioned, if you do want to use the material, i'd say doing the headliner and visors would be safe and fine. doing the center console though, i dont know..... i think the material would take a beating on the console.
