Ugliest bumper ever...

Let me know what you think. I tend to be overly critical of my work so it may not be as bad as I'm making it out to be so I'd like to hear from everyone. Seriously tho, if you think it's ugly, let me know.

Looks good. You may want to put some supports to the outside corners because if you hit somehting from the corner they will bend right in on your fender and lights.
I liek the idea, its different! I woudl however connect the tops of the bumper-ettes witha bar/hoop over teh winch to make sure they are connect and add structural support.

You know that you should not run syn line with that steel hawse fairlead...
I think you should have had that lower bar come up to meet the upper one, instead of having that huge gap. Are there any other supports or points of attachment other than the one by the winch?
Just cut it off!......
...and get this....
...that's one fine bumper from TBar Fab!

I think bigger bar would look better. The roundness of the bumper doesn't go with the front of the truck. I think it might look better if the outside bottom bar met the top bar at a corner similar to the pre-runner bumper instead of that curve. That's all I can think of. Personally it doesn't suit my tastes at all.

well it won't win any beauty contest right now
once you smooth it out and paint it I think it will look lots better
sort of unfair to throw it out for inspection now all raw and naked like that
not going to protect the ol' Mile Marker at all?
right now it looks like some d-bag could back into you at the market and mess with the winch
I think it looks good and as usual very custom - nice job

I see what you were going for, but for what you are going to be using it for I woulnd't try and simulate a bar that goes in the same area as the regular bumper... know what I mean Tom?
Now if the bottom part was curved inand then a solid plate put over each side it would look pretty good.

Sorry man, but yeah, I think it's pretty ugly! Plus I question how effective it would be. It honestly doesn't look that strong. I would think you'd want something that would extend beyound the leading edge of the winch, thus protecting the winch should it be hit. Many bumpers I've seen that do this extend upwards of 12" off the front of the vehicle. I've seen some sharp looking ones that have diamond plate step surfaces and incorporate brush guards as well. I would think such a design would be worth condsidering..

Well, it really does not matter b/c that cable is no more...got syn..winch cable does not always wrap nice and pretty like you see on magazine covers! Those last few wraps that look like a birds nest are not under tension, so it's no harm. Now if it looks like that after a hard pull, different story. Gotta wrap the last feet after a pull, and I really do not take the time to wrap it noce.
Yup...I designed, and Tom made that bumper.

The reason for the round parts near the winch is because on my 2000 XLT, the grill actually sits about an inch lower than the bottom of the parking lights so if I put a straight piece from end to end, there would be horrible gaps under the lights.
I found a way to fix what I don't like about it and that is, I was able to get the outer corners to more closely match the curve of the truck and I will move the winch forward about 2" to allow for a pair of bars behind the winch that will connect the bumper-ettes together. Once that's done, it should be more obvious what I was trying to do with the round parts.
Regarding the winch, it's actually behind the fairlead and the plate so I'm not overly concerned with it. I may cut apart the bumper-ettes in the pics and use those bends to make something to go around and/or over the winch, but I'm not sure about that yet. I'll have to see how rev 2.0 turns out.
I'm not sure how I'm going to fill those gaps but I'll definitely come up with something. Vertical bars or sheetmetal or... something. And I will be adding much more support to rev 2.0 but the first set of pics may not have it. Really depends on how much I can get done today.
