bed liners

hey all,
im new to the site cuz i just bought a 2010 ranger. i was just curious to hear from real ranger gear heads if they think its worth paying 500 bucks for a spray in liner or to just go get a 100 dollar rubber mat for the bed? also im lookin for a hard toneau cover so if any one has one up for sale if u could lemme noe thatd be sick!
thanks
Trevor

my truck came with line x and i love it. id definitely recommend line x spray on bed liner. rubber mats fail. when i load up stuff at work in customers vehicles that have that, it pisses me off. it either curls up or makes **** harder to slide in it.

spray in no question

If money is an issue, get a paint on liner kit and do it yourself

YES do it! Mine came with the spray-in when I bought it and would not trade it for anything else!! Also, have them spray over the rails like so, it saves the top of your bed!

Good spray liner is most recommended, it appears. Personally, I don't care much for mats since they don't offer much protection - I went with a "Ford" under-the-rail bed liner and have been real happy with it.

yes it's worth it. they repaired the pentagon with the stuff. i scraped a tear in mine with a fridge's under carrage and i brought it back. the guy had a tube of the stuff and patched it up for me.

so far in this thread:
line-x/rhino 7
plastic drop in/rubber mat 1

there you go...

...but I didn't say plastic was the best. A lot depends on what someone wants to spend. That's just what I went with because I happened to check-mark that option when I ordered my new truck, could have ordered it with the Ford "carpet" bed liner, but didn't think it would've been a good choice for me - If spray liner would have been an option, that's what I would have ordered. I vote for the spray liner.

i wasn't centering you out. i just went with your response and i must have read it wrong. i think the spray in is a dealer option. if you have them do it, they will but for an extra fee. my dealer asked me when i was doing the final financing and signing the papers i i wanted a bedliner (like yours) i said no since i knew i wanted this one. so they took the $500 and put it as a down payment. i really could have used a tonneau but what ever. i got one now and it cost me less.

It really all depends on what your putting in the bed. If your just putting groceries and boxes then a rubber drop in will be fine. Also leaves you money to get a tonneau cover likes the OP wants. Now if your hauling anything with sharp corners or metal then yes go with the spray in. I have had drop ins in both of my trucks with no problems. Would I like a spray in? Sure! Am I going to pay the 500 to have it done? Not anytime soon.

I'm in the same boat as Trent. I have had a drop-in liner in all of my trucks and they have worked fine for me. Do I think spray is better? Yes but not worth the money to me to spend on it.

if i could have showed you guys the crap that was under the drop in that was in my f-150 and the damage and bare steel that was showing becuase of the liner you might think differently about them. id rather have no liner than a drop in. sure it serves its purpose but alot of times it can cause more damage than good. my ranger has a line-x liner and so will me F-150 when i have the cash, it was probably one of the best things ive done to my ranger. also, where are you guys getting the $500 price for a liner? i payed just over $300 on my ranger and its around $400 for my F-150 last i checked. just my 2 pennys.

Makes a lot of sense, but at the time I ordered my truck in 2008 the small town dealer didn't offer spray liners...and they still don't. Ford drop in was an option the dealership offered - price was discounted to stupid low price like $179.00 or maybe less, so seemed like a good deal to me. If or when I ever decide to get rid of the Ford plastic liner and I find the damage that I know will be left from using a drop in, I'll cover it up with a line x spray liner.

I had no damage underneath my drop-in of my 04. I was expecting having paint rubbed off and stuff but it was actually in really good condition.

I'm not gonna start an argument on here but I have had no issues with mine. I've had mine in since I bought it in August of '07. When I took my liner out to do the body lift, there was nothing underneath it. No rubbing paint off either. My dad has had a drop-in in his truck since he bought it new in '01. We took it out last summer to clean underneath just to make sure it wasnt dirty and there was hardly nothing under it and we haul mulch in his truck a few times each year. The paint was in good shape. So I'll stick to my drop-in liners for now.

If you do go spray-in definitely go Line-X. Best out there IMO
