Door Question

Hi,
I’m looking to buy a used front door from the Junk Yard. It’s manual lock and windows. Is it possible to take my electric lock and window components from the door I have now and put them into the donor door? If so is is complicated?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum

Yes, the doors are the same based on model years of course, but all doors start off the same and the manual or power options are added based on that Rangers build

Unhook the battery cables, FIRST.............power door locks have LIVE power all the time
You will need to unplug all the wiring inside the current door, and then pull it out of the door with the boot intact, so you can put it back in to the other door

There will be some rivets to drill out on both doors that hold the window regulators
And some new holes to drill, to mount the power window regulator in the other door
And either use new rivets or short bolts and nuts to mount, you should use nyloc nuts or lock washers on these, because they WILL loosen up, that's why Ford used rivets

Most likely you will need to change latch and of course door lock so your key will work

It will be easier because you have BOTH doors to look at as far as new holes and where wiring is routed, so take lots of pictures if possible as you go, they come in handy later, lol

Just as a heads up, check the drain holes in the replacement door make sure the bottom inside of the door is clean, you can drill more drain holes never hurts to do that
cut some wood stakes to hold windows up and out of the way for this work
