Your dealer should be able to. Unless your in Canada where it's required by law.

Why would you want them disable. Makes no sense.

There should be a fuse for it, I just like to have the choice to go from all lights off, to parking lights, or headlights on.

No fuse. It's built into the computer as far as I know. Unless rangers are different but I'm almost positive.

No lights = truck off lol.

DRL's are nice. You are always seen. I dunno, I'm glad they're required up here. So many idiots in the road forget to turn their lights on when conditions call for it. With DRL that's not an issue, and I know people are gonna see me. Just my opinion. Even if I didn't have them, I'd turn my lights On all the time.

I seem to remember pushing my emergency brake down one click in some other car to shut them off. The Ranger gives me an emergency brake warning when I try that...........You're right, they're good. Plenty of drivers down here don't light up when they should.

Since they do provide a benefit, I probably wouldn't go that far to defeat them. It seems to me that years ago Chev had a fuse for them.

Where is the DLR module ?

On the older trucks I think it was somewhere up front near the bumper if memory series me right. Newer ones. Like I said I'm pretty sure it's built right in. So no external module. As far as I know.

Let see... you don't want the DRL on but you want them just on case... sounds like a switch to me.

Good luck on your choice.

If you know someone with a programmer from a dealer you can turn them off. However like mentioned, it's illegal and can get you a ticket.

He's not, he's in Washington. At least that's what his plate is.

Tony Canadian ones have it. It's been standard up here for a while. Like early 90's.

It is illegal but it can be bypassd. Thus you'd be breaking the law. If you can deal with the alarm, click your parking brake once.

Thanks for asking. Actually I never did. I decided that it was more trouble than it was worth. I ended up running across this creampuff, bought it and sold the Canadian built truck with the DRL's. This 2011 XLT is US built and doesn't have them. Actually the set up on my Chevy half ton works best for me. The DRL's come on when you start the engine. I end up driving with them on and get the safety benefit, but if I want them off for some reason, I can shut them off and they'll come back on next time I start the engine. Name: 025_zpse9d15d2b.jpg

Truck looks good.
Like the grille.

I will be adding DRLs to my 03 EDGE but they will be like your Chevy, except that when the head lights come on they will go off.

Easy do, I will be installing the High Amperage Harness I have for the headlight but I will replace the four pin relay to a five pin, one with pin 87a. When the headlights are off pin 87a will be live and will light up my DRLs and when the head lights are on pin 87a will have no power. Add a switch in line with the lights and you can shut them off.
You will need another relay inline with the DRLs, that will turn on and off with the ignition, shouldn't be a big problem just locate an ignition hot wire that doesn't have a lot to do.
To me an easy setup, straight forward and don't forget a low fuse, rated for the lights, after the first relay to protect the lights. If using an LED Stripe like me a low amperage fuse will work perfectly.

Ok, I have an STX grille, just trying to determine how I can fit it to the '03 grille shell.

Hoping for an easy fit.
