Blackstone analysis test kit came today. I'm going to send it back tomorrow.

The oil had 5608 miles. The oil has been through 29 days of 110+ degree weather. Every other weekend offroad. Stop and go traffic for 25 miles everyday on the way home with the AC running wide open. If this doesn't test your oil nothing will!
Mobil 1 5w-30. Motorcraft filter.

It will help settle the 3,000 mile change or like I do the 5000 mile change. The conditions here are probably more extreme than most anywhere.

 

what all will it check for?

 

extreme? try living in a state where it can go from -50 windchills to +100 in less than 5 months. (thats a 150 degree change) welcome to the midwest. extreme? all you've got is some 75-110 degree heat year round.

 

i would bet the oil is still in pretty good shape

 

OK you need to send one in and I'll save the $22.50.
I'll try to do better.....maybe on the next oil change I'll
drive up to Canada in the winter so it will be "extreme".

 

did the oil feel dirty or was it smooth?? living in Phoenix you probably get and kinds of dirt, from offroad and pollution, plus the oil heating up to that hot, then cooling off that much at night...i dunno im interested to see what happens

 

Didn't feel dirty. If I could feel dirt that would be real bad.

So I may get a high dirt reading because the motor is new. There is always variables and to say one thing and one thing only will cause a problem is irresponsible.

It's on the way. Blackstone says 1-4 weeks after they get it.

 

Windchill is only a reference to how much heat is taken away from your body to compare the effect against ambient temperature. It doesn't affect oil. If you were to measure the temperature of oil sitting in conditions equivalent to -50º, the temperature of the oil would be the same as the air temperature.

Cold temperatures are hard on engine wear. Hot temperatures are hard on the oil.
