Exhaust Question

2002 Edge 4.0L Extended cab

Last night my exhaust fell down and I have a question before I replace it. Being the Edge model truck, I have been told the exhaust has a "sporty" sound to it. I would like to keep the sporty sound but not get too loud.

What muffler do you guys recommend? Hear alot about the Flowmaster 40's but would they be must louder then my oem exhaust? Is my current oem mufflers different from non Edge truck mufflers?

Its the same muffler that came on all 4.0 rangers, someone was yanking your chain. A flowmaster is much louder than a stock exhaust.

Borla or Magnaflow. I love my Borla, and the Magnaflow has the same straight through design. My Borla is noticably louder than stock, but noticably quiet than my bro's Flow 40 setup.

Magnaflow single exit catback. It sounds better after it has had time to break in.

Yeah I am getting a new magna-flow si/do, apperently they are the best performing dual exhuast mufflers on the market.

This was stated to me from an exhaust expert but i am sure someone will disagree.

I can't see Magnaflow or Borla performing any differently. There is really only one to make a straight through muffler, but the straight through design is the bomb.

I have an extreme flow on my truck. Guy that did my exhaust makes his own brand and it's definately louder then my friends magnaflow on his ranger. Mine has more of a deep sound to it especially around 2700 rpms. Cost me 180 for muffler, tip, and installation.

I'm keeping all my stock exhaust, but having a Flowmaster 40 installed on Thursday. I just want a little more growl. Stock sucks.

On a 01+ 4.0L, Flowmaster Super 44. Hands down, OWNS any of the past 4 mufflers I've had on my truck in my opinion.

Would be much more mellow under load. Simply revving doesn't really give you the true sound of the exhaust.
