vehicle fluid additives

vehicle fluid additives
I know there are additives for fuel and oil etc. I use seafoam in the motor on occasion but my question is, can I put anything in my automatic transmission to help it survive a little better while I'm towing. I have never towed with it and am about to tow about 2000 lb trailer 1000 miles. I just don't want my tranny to die on me next month while I'm driving almost 4000 miles. The tranny was supposedly just rebuilt by a ford mechanic right before I bought it (roughly 4000 miles ago). Any input would be great. Thanks.

I agree, make sure you have a tranny oil cooler.
Check your tranny fluid. Make sure the level is right and it has good color. Since it's been 4000 miles since a rebuild it should be nice and clean.
A question for others. How come they don't have a tranny oil filter? Or do they now and I haven't owned an auto tranny in years and I haven't gotten with the times? Maybe the length of service of the oil isn't worth cost of a filter installation.

Get a tranny cooler if you don't have one... Not only is it good while towing it helps keep your tranny cooler, Not to mention the added fluid volume to extend the fluid life.
Year, Make, Model, and motor for your truck, I can tell you if you have a filter in there. < Also might not be a bad idea to make a signature with this information about your truck.. it helps when asking quesitons.

Thanks Bruce -
Here is what I was able to find.. You will have to do a little research on which tranny you have in there, but overall you do have a filter just which one you will have to find out.
Fluid Filter - A/T
4R44E, 4R55E
Filter
4 - 2WD Part # XL2Z7A098CA $27.71
5R55E
Filter
12 - 2WD Part # XL2Z7A098CA $27.71
HeHe... Looks like they are both the same part number... so it doesn't matter which tranny you have you need the OEM filter # XL2Z7A098CA which should cost you 27.71 at the dealer.
Take care!
