Motor let go HARD

Coming home from the river, at 5am I was about 100 miles out. Palm Springs area, cruising along with the boat in tow about 65 mph. I hear a slight "ping" like noise and about 5 seconds later... BAM. This is what happened...

Thats the driver's left side of the oil pan and you can see the big end of the rod. I have dug out a few small pieces of the upper rod and small pieces of aluminum which appear to be the skirt and wrist pin cradle... It also punched some smaller holes in the front side of the oil pan. Looks like I will be dropping a new motor in it.

32,980 miles too. Ford won't cover it under warranty either, they already denied me when both heads cracked at 18,000 miles because of my airbox.

You need to fight that HARD, make them prove it, they can't just say no.

Anyone have suggestions or experience with taking legal action? I don't know what to do. Last time, when the dealer denied my warranty, I called Corp. Ford and they told me the dealer's word is gold and I am wrong. I then spent 1500 bucks to fix it, and found out that the dealer mis-diagnosed it in the first place. They wanted 1200 bucks just to take it apart and find out whats wrong with it.

im only 16, but i wish life was easy going like back in the day where a company admits fault when their engine busts apart after one year of wear and tear. my dad also said shops used to patch tires for free. now everything is all legal and expensive. that sucks that the dealer is like that.

Its called the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. In a nut shell, it states that your warranty cannot be voided because of an aftermarket part unless the problem can be directly attributed to that aftermarket part (ie your headlight wiring harness fries up and you put a bulb in there that is too powerful, thats going to get your warranty voided{just on the headlight harness though, not the whole truck voided} but say you put a KN Filter in and you stereo stops working. The dealer cant say because you put a KN in, your whole warranty is voided. That is illegal)

Basically your dealer needs to prove that you problems are caused by the filter, which they are not. You will win this in court because they will not be able to prove it. just mention these 2 things, Magnuson Moss Warranty Act and a Lawyer and your dealer should change there tone. It would even be worth the money to pay a lawyer to to right you a letter because it will cost much more the get your truck fixed.

damn that sucks - like D said put in a 4.0
Ford will blame this on your MODS and the 33 inch tires
The rod/bearing failure probably goes back to your cracked head problems

If I want to swap a 4.0 into it will I need a transmission adapter? How about the computer, will all of that need to be swapped out as well? Give me some more info on a 4L swap...

A 4.0 Would give you more power, but it would require you put a lot more work in then just dropping in a 3.0.

Here is a 2003 3.0 with only 2k on it. This would be much easier then doing the conversion to a 4.0.

Its ends very soon.

And another with only 1K on it..

When it's stated "Ford denied the warranty previously" -- do you mean the FORD MOTOR COMPANY, or just the DEALER? There is an appeals process to Ford you can make on this -- the dealer is NOT the final decider of warranty claims.

Contact a newspaper if you can, and get a reporter to call the dealership about it if you know the guy. You should also go ahead and pay $50 to $75 to a lawyer to draft a letter of intent where the lawyer basically says he's been asked to represent you and asking for information on the claim. All this will make the dealer think hard, and possibly start to "get with the program".

So, to summarize:

1 Take it to FORD, not just the dealer
2. Get some attention to the issue from somewhere if possible
3. Have a lawyer contact the dealer about the claim

that sucks bad, but what the hell do you do to your truck!!!!!???? I have beaten the living s#*t out of my mustang with a 351, 12 pounds of boost and 150 big shot fogger kit with 134,288 miles now, and still haven't had any problems like that. I've toasted 3 t5 trannys though. now have viper t56, suppossedly near impossible to break! How often do you change your oil. hell my truck is at 112, something and I'm not exactly nice to it either.
