explorer seats, help quick,

k so i found some 99' explorer seats at the junkyard today, they will bolt right in to my 2002 won't they, sorry i know theres a million threads on this but i want a answer quick so i can go pick them up!

also what tools do i need to get them out?

04blackedge 08-07-2009 04:06 PM

Yeah they will, just need a 15 or 17mm socket, I forgot which one.

truckcap22 08-07-2009 04:10 PM

looks like i'll have leather seats by tonight :)

mine came out of a 95 bolted right in i did find tho some of the holes wernt big enough for the stock ranger bolts to bolt the seats back in so i had to make the holes bigger

15mm or T55 torx...i've seen both in Expos.

They'll bolt in, might need to ream out a hole or two. Is your truck an x-cab? I'm assuming it is. If reg cab, seat track swap is needed.

well, they closed at 6 but they let me get the passenger seat out and i got that in now, lol bolts were 10mm the only prob i saw was that the driver side is a power seat, and its not moved up enough to get to the rear bolts...does anyone know of a way to move the seat up?

Got a jump box? Or if you can drive up to it, jumper cables. Or if you have an extra car battery around throw that on it. Putting power to it would be the easiest way, and probably the only way.

i doubt they'd let me drive back there, and idk if i would want to anyways with all the glass and shiz, i might just try to grab a wrench and see if i can get to the two back ones that way then splice the power wire once the seats out

Fx4wannabe01 08-07-2009 09:38 PM

Yeah...might be a pain, but you can get to 'em with a combo wrench or a ratchet and a stubby socket.

truckcap22 08-07-2009 10:22 PM

yeah i'm excited, lol the seats are in prestine shape and at $40 bucks a peice cant beat it, what kind of yard credit do you think they'll give me for my old seats? i'll prob try to work in a center console and/or a ohc for them

99offroadrngr 08-07-2009 10:29 PM

let me know how the wiring goes. i want to put one in but i don't know how the wiring will be.

truckcap22 08-07-2009 11:35 PM

its just a ground and power wire ran to an add a fuse in the fuse box isn't it?

Fx4wannabe01 08-08-2009 02:13 AM

Never ever ever heard of yard credit. If that existed here, I wouldn't have soooo freakin' many spare parts!!

truckcap22 08-08-2009 05:43 PM

done done done, might have pics up tonight! wiring was extremely easy and i just used the seat bolts as the ground and ran a wire to a add a curcuit fuse in the fuse box, all in all swap probably took 5 or 6 hours cause it was about 95 degrees today and i was moving like a snail to get everything in and it took a couple attempts to get the bracket in the right place

Smakes 08-08-2009 05:51 PM

i want to put in expo power seats aswell, and if its as easy as you say it is, thats my next mod

truckcap22 08-08-2009 10:42 PM

very simple install really just time consuming, pics up in pic thread

Coleosis85 08-09-2009 05:38 AM

Im thinking about explorer seats in my 95 reg cab...Is there any certain year I should use? Does the seat bolt right up to my tracks? Dont want power seats...and I dont want to wait for my friend to reapohlster mine next summer.

truckcap22 08-09-2009 12:47 PM

if you have a reg cab i think you have to switch tracks
