Got the firestik mounted up today

Got the coax routed and the 5' firestik in today. Waiting for my friend to finish up tweaking my radio before I get it in there. I also need to strengthen up my tool box where the antenna is mounted. As it sways it flexes the aluminum of the box more than I like. So i'm bolting in a 1/4x4x12 steel plate in there. Outta keep things in check.

sorry for the crap low light pics!

Thanks ya'll, i semi wanted one like posted above. my truck is just too little to pull it off lol. I have a spring coming for it to help it out, i really don't drive in many parking garages, drive-throughs and stuff. Given it's a good 2.5-3ft over the cab, it should work well

Tall, but I went for function overall. 1' isn't all that dramatic of a difference as well. Good antenna is the base for a good system, 2/3 of it is supposed to be above the cab, i got about that just fine..

Yeah I ran a 3 footer mag mount on the top of my cab and it just got really annoying hitting it on everything. I think I'm gonna go with a 4 ft on the back bed corner.

Just wondering what type of mount you used? I am wanting to relocate mine to the toolbox as well.

There is a dust boot underneath of either side of the cab, I ran mine thru that and almost all the setups I've seen have done the same

I just cut a slit in the dust cover and even put some putty over it to make sure no moisture could sneak in, has worked great for 5+ years
