3.0 or 2.5
I'm lookin at a newer ranger and needed to bounce some ideas around. sorry guys no pics
The new truck is a 2003 2wd extended cab with 88,000 miles and a 3.0 my truck is a 98 2wd regular cab with 102,000 miles.
1. I average around 23mpg with the 4 cylinder whats milleage look like with the v6?
2. Are there any major problems with the 3.0?
3. Both trucks have a manual trans but the clutch pedal in the 03 truck seems firmer than the one in my truck.... is this a sign of things to come????
4. Is there anything out of the ordinary i should look at before i buy?

well with the 3.0 in my truck when it was stock got about 17 mpg. nothing wrong with it besides the fact that its kinda a dog...but itll last you forever.
i have a 2.5 and a 3.0 and ill say the power seems the same between em, but its hard to guage cuz ones lifted and ones lowered BUT i love getting 27mpg in my 2.5...so thats something to think about.

obvious things to look for... well, will be obvious.
its pretty hard to explain over the internet, and not knowing how mechanically inclined you are I'm not sure where to start.
make sure it shifts smooths, engine runs smooth, no major oil leaks, no coolant leaks. Check for play in the suspension/steering. Make sure the interior is how you like it.. etc, just give it a good look over.
