factory bedliners
Are the factory bedliners held in with anything, the reason I ask is I have 07 sport and it looks like someone used silcon and spray insulations to hold the liner in.
I think I'm going to remove the liner and clean the stuff off, or is it suppose to be there? Is it possible it was rattling on the hwy and they used this stuff to stop the rattle? |
hmm...on mine it was just dropped in and held itself in...

Thats the way I think their suppose to be.
I have no idea what the first owner was thinking |

Another question..... the 07 sports have rail caps. How are they attached? It looks like the're just silconed down.

3M automotive double sided tape usually

Thats what I figured would be there, but all I can find is dabs of what looks like silcon. I think someones had these off at one time or another.

Maybe the previous owner had the truck rustproofed and he had them spray it before putting it in the truck. If it came from the factory with the bedliner, then maybe the owner had it taken out, sprayed, and then put back in (I've seen stranger things). Some of the rustproofing goop they use can be pretty slimy. It definitely didn't come from the factory like that. Factory bedliner is dropped in with no fasteners. The only thing holding anything in are eight (8) torx screws on the tailgate portion. That's it.
My 08 B4000 SE came standard with the factory bedliner. It is strictly dropped in with nothing underneath it from the factory...it's the standard finish. Removing this thing is going to be a great pleasure. I'm waiting on an appointment to have a spray-in installed to replace it right now. |
