Flareside gas tank
I remember reading somewhere on here that all supercab rangers 2001 and above have a 19.5 gallon fuel tank. Does anyone know if that includes flaresides? I swear I get about 235 miles before my low fuel light comes on. At 16 mpg that would be about a 16.5 gallon tank.

yes it's 19.5 gallons even in the flareside and you didnt do your math right unless you ran the tank dry then calculated it. The fuel light comes on to tell you you are low and I think there is a couple gallons in reserve.
|
16.5 gallon tank x 16 mpg would give me about 264 miles. If the light came on with a couple of gallons left when i was at 235 wouldnt that be correct?
|
^^^Mike, you have a 19.5 gallon tank, all extended cab rangers do, your bed makes no difference on the tank size. Look it up in your owners manual if you need to...

The low Fuel light comes on way early on rangers. it has been talked about numerous times. It came on on both of my 01 and 04 rangers at about 230, I'd drive another thirty miles and but in 16 gallons. That meant I had 3.5 gallons still left of fuel. I thought about pushing it once to see if I could hit 300, but then I got nervous.

hell, my low fuel light comes on when i'm at 15 gallons, leaving 4.5 gallons to find a gas station. :)

I once ran out of gas. Well kinda my truck shut off while driving then wouldn't start up. I got it started and to a gas station. Truck didn't take 19 gallons more like 18.5

My idiot light comes on with 4-gallons left in the tank.
|
Yeah it buggs me cause the light comes on so early, like 3.5 gallons left. Then I will keep driving around but the stupid needle falls under E so I keep thinking I'm almost empty and fill up and I still have 2 gallons

so is that the same situation on a single cab ne1 kno? cause ive had the light on for a while drove a good 18 miles fine, and the most ive ever been able to fill up is 15.3 or sumthin like that but i dunno how much gas a single cab holds

ok that sounds about right, when i first got the truck they told me it had 13 tank lol i found out it had at least 15 the next time i filled up cause i put like 14.5 in it

the fuel pump is in the tank and cooled by the gas if you run it low on fuel it allows the pump to overheat and sooner or later fail
|
I guess its just weird to me to have the light come on with so much gas still left. I mean, I was at 250 miles and the gauge was below the "E". Light came on as usual at 235 and I drove the additional 15 miles. I filled up and it took 15.1 gallons. Its still under warranty so I think im going to drop it off at the dealer and let them check it out.
