Help with static shock from seat covers

It's always worse with cold weather for me. Tonight me and my girlfriend both got one getting out of the truck and got another one when I stuck the key into the door to unlock it. Why can't it all just go away.
Oh and I make sure I get a shock or atleast touch metal before I fill up.
P.S. I'm hoping John will pop in and have a solution since he's the genius for EVERYTHING

When I'm ready to get out, I open my door, put my left hand on a metal surface (usually the outside edge of the door), then get out.

Exactly.
touch something metal as you leave the car (not after).
This keeps the static charge from building as you slide over the seat.
It's the dry cold weather that is making it bad right now.
