Help with static shock from seat covers

EVERYTIME I get out of my truck I get shocked. I believe it's from my seat covers I have on. Is there anything I can do about this. It's been driving me crazy!!!!

It's always worse with cold weather for me. Tonight me and my girlfriend both got one getting out of the truck and got another one when I stuck the key into the door to unlock it. Why can't it all just go away.

Oh and I make sure I get a shock or atleast touch metal before I fill up.

P.S. I'm hoping John will pop in and have a solution since he's the genius for EVERYTHING

The cold weather means the air will be less humid, which makes you get shocked more. Happens to me too.

I use the window, inside door handle, or use my arm if I have a sweatshirt on. Mine frequently gives me visible sparks.

I constantly get shocked in my TrailBlazer (I should've gotten leather seats).

When I'm ready to get out, I open my door, put my left hand on a metal surface (usually the outside edge of the door), then get out.

Take a few Dryer sheets and put them under the seat covers or in your jacket pocket. The dryer sheets are make to control static cling in the dryer, so they will help with this as well. You can also buy a spray can of static guard and spray your seats down.

Exactly.

touch something metal as you leave the car (not after).
This keeps the static charge from building as you slide over the seat.

It's the dry cold weather that is making it bad right now.

This is exactly what I do ALL WINTER. Just keep a hand on a metal surface of the door the entire time you disembarking from the truck and you will be fine.

I've never tried them. Will they harm the fabric at all? Discolor, oil spot, undesirable staining, stiffening/hardening of fabric?
