Ford Recall Letter (2002 Ranger)

So I got home from work and was going through some mail and saw a letter with Ford's logo on it and "SAFETY RECALL NOTICE" printed above where my address is. Well I opened it up and the recall is 05S28 - Speed Control System Modification. I did some google research and was sort of surprised reading that my truck could burst into flames even if its turned off. I reread the letter and it does state that "your 2002 Ranger has not had the following no charge recall completed". So much for the previous owner having it done. :thumbsdow

I'll be taking it to the dealer hopefully sometime this week to get it done. (nearest Ford Dealer is 20 miles) Maybe they can tell me what the engine rattle on my truck is to. :smileford:

I just got this today on my 98, real quick deal, just added a harness from the brake booster to another connector.

engine rattle might be timing chain, 02's are notorious for it. But could be something else.

I'm positive that this is what the noise I keep hearing is. The rattle is always the last thing I hear when I turn my truck off and when I've had the oil changed the mechanic said it wasn't the exhaust shield.

It's a conspiracy I tell ya....

The goverment is tracking all of our locations. This is the only way they can get all of us Ford owners at the moment due to the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1725.

RESIST THE URGE!!!!!!

It the recall for the speed control burning your truck to the ground while off.

I got the same letter form my 95 sploder under my mothers care. I doubt she will get it done, cant wait for the call where it burns the house down.

are crown vics affected by this recall?? a coworker just told me today his uncle's crown vic caught on fire while garaged and burned down the house over the weekend.

Blhde 01-04-2011 03:17 AM

Its possible, the issue is the brake pressure switch has power 24/7. Being made by the lowest bidder, it can short start on fire then light up the brake fluid.

All they do is swap out the pressure switch and put a fuseable link in. This effects many ford vehicles.

Yes, I'm coming for you and only you

The whole thing reminds me of the scene in the movie Fight Club where the main character who works for a "major car company" explains how and if a recall is needed.

Audio clip.
