Relax, enjoy, and take it like a grain of salt..... We still luv ya man!
I promised myself I wouldn't respond, but there are some things I just won't drop (Just ask my wife about that). Maybe I'm just a grouch, or maybe I hate to see this forum go the way of GenEdge; but either way here's my rant.

I didn't "just come" on this site; I've been here for over two years. Add another two from the previous site; and that's 4 years I've known most of the members here. And after 4 years, I will not be asked "why are you on this site" by someone who has been on for 1 month.

What annoys me more, is that by allowing this the admins imply that you are speaking for the group.

To be honest, when you say "we still luv you", that means very little to me.
"We" would be the people of this site that I respect and cherish their knowledge, humor and insights. "We" would be Christian, D, John, Bob, Colin, and all my other friends (some of whom will probably be upset that I didn't name them specifically).
"We" is not someone who just joined last month, and is now trying to "make nice" after bashing me for "telling all of us proud Ford owners what a POS we all drive".

For goodness sakes man; did you even read my first post? Did I say Ford is junk? Did I ever call the Ranger, F150, or Expy a POS? Do I have a sister?

And no, the members of this forum aren't the ones distancing themselves from me. It's been my choice to do so, because of issues such as this. To be frank; I'm tired of arguing with an endless parade of newbies, who think that they are the voice of this forum after 10 posts. I don't feel anyone of this forum owes me anything special, but I will expect common couresty.
If that's not going to happen, then you're right "what AM I doing on this forum"?

Ask your friend this: if his Tacoma is not a mid-size pickup truck, then what exactly is it?

I suppose it really doesn't matter, since JD Power included the Ranger and Tacoma in the same class for the purposes of the study. The two models were rated against each other, and the Ranger came out ahead. That's it.

Tell your friend also that we're talking about his Tacoma verses our Ranger, so we don't care about any of the other Toyotas on the list. His comments sound to me like a lame attempt to gloss over the fact that his "Taco" got beat in a head-to-head dependability study by a truck that essentially hasn't seen a major upgrade or redesign in over 10 years.

This will sound odd.. But My RSA Tire having, Lowered Ranger is known to have pulled a TRD Taco out of the mud :) . I also helped try to locate a new engine for it as the ' 7th injector ' that was used for the ' supercharger ' leaned the motor out.. It tossed a rod.

4500$ for an engine, and then problems with the supercharger later, said Prior-Taco owner now sports an F250 SuperDuty and offroads the **** out of it.

' Rice ' can carry over to the Taco just as bad as a civic

Man, I tried to lighten things up and clear the air with you, but you just can't let it go, can you? Enough drama and on with the topic already!

Ah yes, the typical response. Can't be your fault for coming here and bashing a longtime member. Oh no, it must be me. I'm too sensitive.

Maybe you should read your second post towards me and see if any of it says "Sorry, I mispoke".
Your words:"Aww, jeez, don't take it to heart! You just came on a Ford forum telling all of us proud Ford owners what a POS we all drive compared to a vehicle of another brand that your sister bought"

Let me spell this out. I didn't "just come on here". I have been here far longer than you, and I have about reached my limit of tolerance for what Maurice appropriatley calls "a rediculas surge of *** hat noobs".

It would be nice if our moderators would explain to certain people that it's appropriate to spend a tad more time at a forum before you start mouthing off. AND maybe it's a good idea to have a few more posts before you bash someone, so that they will know if you are kidding or not.

But that probably won't happen, and more newbs will just run amoke here like a bull in a china shop. Until one day, we just start wondering why we are here.

Neil,
I believe Colin sold his Ranger, and moved on. I miss his New England slant on things, and I hope to see him next time I'm up there.

Dear Mr Drama,
No matter what I say, it will be wrong in your eyes because you were here first and have more posts..........If you think I was rude, you have no clue......I can be if you so choose......I will not do it on the forum, but will keep it to PM's out of respect for the site, and moderators. I am done responding to YOU publicly, but feel free to PM me anytime.

Dear Newb,

Another typical answer. I guess it's still too much effort for you to say "my bad". Now I'm a drama queen, and you are the sweet virgin who never did anything wrong. How odd that you don't want to be rude on the forum, when you already have been.

Really? Rude? Me? You say. Probably want to read your first post a few times, but I guess that's too much to ask.

You have respect for the site and moderators, but not it's members? Is that it?

Don't bother with PM's, I rather not waste the time deleting them.

Would you two PLEASE stop bickering! sheesh! First off, Im not gonna side with anyone other than to say that we are all friendly people and we all need to get along. And this talk about 'well maybe i should leave cause of this or that' is bull****. sit down ur not going anywhere

I realise some of the old farts on this board want respect and courtesy, which everyone should be respected and courtious(sp) to everyone else, you two need to LET IT GO!

Silvertank, no need to get all cranky like, some people are just hard headed. Just be nice and respectful. I respect everyones opinion and would be happier if everyone got along.

and by the way, no personal bashing allowed in any of my posts unless its directed torwards me, since I started it. Everyone has a right to their opinion, if you cant say anything nice keep it to yourself.

Also, bashing is against christians rules, so better behave or he will beat you up

Fine then, I will now bash Dave

Dave, you have this uncanny ability to introduce topics that not only spawn arguments, but also off topic wandering. I do wish you would return to the mundane topics of "best body lift?" and "what tires will fit my ride?"
If not, I will be forced to drive to Buffalo and make you buy me wings. (and beer)

(and more beer)

In an attempt to return to the topic (and appease Dave), let me throw in my 3 cents.

It won't be Jeep or Toyota that bankrupts Ford, but Ford themselves. I follow their stock as an investor, and I'm wondering why the new CEO is worth 20 million.
http://www.wtopnews.com/?nid=111&sid=902940
That's right folks, he gets 2 millions a year with an 18.5 million signing bonus.

AND from the same article: "Dearborn-based Ford lost $1.4 billion in the first half of 2006 and has vowed to speed up its stalled turnaround. The restructuring first announced in January calls for cutting 30,000 jobs and closing 14 facilities by 2012"

Ford lost 1.4 billion, will cut 30,000 more jobs, close 14 facilities BUT they need a new CEO for 20 million. And that doesn't even cover what they will have to pay out to Bill Ford.

Now does that sound like a company headed for trouble? Does to me.

The new Jeep is a nice toy, but it is bascially an AWD drive car. Take it from someone who does have a 4 cylinder truck, they suck in the dirt. I can have lots of torque, but it takes higher engine rpms than the 6 cylinder. More rpms equal wheelspin. I can dig some really nice holes with my truck.
Also, that Jeep 4banger won't be so energy effecient with a heavy load clawing up a dirt trail.

The Toyotas have always been a challenge for Rangers, but again I blame Ford. How many years has it been since the last major upgrade for the Ranger? Too long. 2007, and it's another "slap on a new front end" for the Ranger. Meanwhile, Toyota continues to upgrade and refine.
Fortunetly, Toyota dealers overprice their trucks, which makes it tough to attract younger drivers. Ford still has the adavantage on price, though I wish it wasn't at the cost of R&D.

Besides, do you really want a Toy Taco with the optional TuRD pack?
