found me a wrecked ranger

i found me a wrecked 2000 ext cab 4x4 with a 4.0, and possibly getting the canopy for free, Im just wondering if that year came witha SOHC and if it would fit in the place of my OHV? thanks

still had OHV which I think has more ***** than the SOHC. congrats on the find!

It's got the OHV 4.0. The SOHC definitely has more power, but it's at higher revs.
OVH = more low end pull (without timing chain issues)
SOHC = more pull at high revs (better passing etc).

My SOHC rarely sees 3500+. Is it like VTEC kicking in? LOL

no. you'd have to deal with teh computer and stuff becuase 2000 is ODBII and you're not being a 1994.

Yup. Had you had a 96+, I believe you would have OBDII as well.

I don't know, though. I think if I had the opportunity, I would still pick it up, and deal with the computer issue. The OHV is a great motor.
