Getting a new truck
A good buddy of mine asked me if I wanted his Ranger. He said it is in his way and doesnt have any time for it anymore and he knew I was looking for a vehicle for myself cause my parents had to have their S10 back that I was borrowing. I dont know what it looks like or anything yet, He is going to send me a picture of it tonight or 2maro whenever he gets the time to send me a picture of it.
It is a 1992 Ranger XLT. It has the 4.0L V6 and is 5 speed manual. Not sure if it is 2wd or 4wd or if it is a standard cab or super cab. He said it has manual windows and door locks, sliding window, cruise, A/C, bedliner, factory fog lights, factory am/fm cassette radio. It is blue on blue with the clearcoat on the hood and roof is fading a little.
He said he has replaced on of the heads on it cause it was cracked and a freeze plug had come out of it but he has fixed that now. He just did a full tune up on it and runs great.
I know I am going to take him up on it cause I could really put this thing to use and get me another Ranger (a little older than my last one but it will work fine, lol).
My question to you guys is what known problems would these years have and what are the weak points of them?
Let me know what you guys think.
Thanx,

And you gathered that how?
Fogs were offered on 2WD models as well. XLT was offered on two wheel drives, as was reg cab, AC, cruise, etc.
Won't know until you get the pictures.
Find out how many miles are on it. It has a 5 digit odometer, so normally, add 100,000 to whatever it is. And if you don't want to factory fogs with the valance, I know of somebody who may take them from you. He's got a BCMG XLT 4X4 ex cab that's broken and buried in snow.
I'll trade them for clear corners.....HAHAHAHAHAHA!
I've actually been pretty lucky with my Ranger up until the whole floating the valves ordeal. I've only replaced wear and tear parts. I'm curious what 5 speed you have.....I wish mine was a manual.
The only thing I would watch out of is that if it is a 4X4, and has automatic hubs, those could go out at any time.
Also, if it is a 4X4, I bet it has the push button (and if you have a manual transfer case, I'll be even MORE jealous!). There is a lot of tech floating around on how to fix a problem that happens a lot with that system. Mine was dead for MONTHS before I figured out my problem: The actual push button switch! All I did was take one out of a truck at the JY, and swap it in, and now I got working FOUR WHEEL DRIVE!
'Course, the heart of the truck doesn't work, so....LOL!

Probably not, lol. It needs a freeze plug to be able to drive it and I willl fix that and probably just drive it for a little while until I get a job and once I get some money coming in, I will do a few things to it. He is gonna get me some pix of it 2maro so I will be able to see what it looks like.
