Front Wheel Bearing/Hub assembly
I've got a front wheel bearing going out in my 08 FX4. Full assembly prices are 157 for Timken at AutoZone, 157 for Moog at Advance, and 136 for a store brand at O'Reilly's. I can order the individual parts (inner/outer bearings, races and seal) from the stealership for around 120. Just wondering if anybody knows who Ford's OEM manufacturer for this part is, and if the job is a big enough pain that its worth spending the extra money to purchase the whole assembly rather than the individual parts.

Honestly it would probably be easier and less of a hassle to just buy the full assembly. I have Timken's in both wheels on my FX4 and it hasn't caused me any problems. If you trail a lot they recommend Timken. If not you could probably go with a cheaper assembly. Good luck.

Get the full assembly. you'll save yourself a ton of time and a headache.
Timken's are the best brand. Fords brand is Motorcraft. which probably means China. |

Am i missing something?....you can't buy just bearings and races for unit bearings, they only come as one piece. Did something change in later models? OP, you are 4wd, right?

Those individual bearings are only for 2WD trucks... you have to get a hub for your FX4. I'd stick with a Timken, Moog, National, SKF... and not any store brand stuff unless you can look at it and see if it is made by one of the well known brands.

I just replaced mine a few weeks ago with one from O Reilly's and no issues. My buddy works at the stealership and said even with his discount was still over $200 for Motorcraft.

2005 FX4 Front hub/Bearings??? 4.0L Automatic
OK I need help!!! I have a growling noise coming from the front of my truck. It starts making the noise at about 29 MPH. It almost sounds like a truck driving beside me with big knarley tires. When I slow down to a stop the noise winds down, I filled the front diff with 90 wt thinking it was low enough to make noise-no differenace in the noise. I bought new tires about 5 months ago, front brakes 4-5 montha ago. I am really worried my tires gonna fall off or something. It started about 1 1/2 weeks ago, It doenst grind, pop, or make any noise as I turn, go to 4high or 4 low. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! You are guru's I hear.
