Goodbye 08 XLT

Had a small SVA a few weeks ago here in Wisconsin. Hit a tree, light post, and a concrete barricade. Pushed the frame 3 inches to the side, split the transfer case, split the transmission, ripped off the rear tire and axle, cracked the rear differential, totaled it out unfortunately

I am okay, I was traveling at 10 MPH and lost control and went sideways into all the things I hit. No airbag deployment, it did knock my hazards on though.
I was issued three tickets, Failure to Maintain Control of Vehicle (4 points), Driving Too Fast For Conditions (4 points), and not being in possession of my vehicle insurance card (0 points, 25 dollar fine).

I pulled the motor and got 750 for it, and I sold the rest of the vehicle for 2300. Unfortunately I am now stuck driving a Honda. (I didn't have collision coverage for the Ranger). I will miss it a lot.

There's gotta be more to this story...

I've worked in recovery/towing/hauling for the last 3+ years and see accidents all day every day working on a mountain pass outside of a major city. Any momentum that was there would've been slowed WAY down after touching the first obstacle. Beginning at 10mph, the damage sheet is very hard to believe.

You've got videos (incorrectly embedded)....but no pictures of the accident scene or damaged truck? What you describe sounds more like 30-45 mph collision.

Yeah im with fx4wannabe.....

And if by some strange chance it was indeed 10 mph, how bad of a driver are you to lose control and do that much damage at 10 mph...... and why the hell didn't you have insurance on a 2008 vehicle.....

In the OP's defense, he had insurance. He had only liability insurance and didn't have his proof in the vehicle. The veh owner eats it if there's no collision coverage (IE it's not fully covered). It's no longer the bank's vehicle, so only liability is an option.

Whether or not that's a good idea to have a 2008 with only liability.... well let's just say my 2001 is still fully covered.

It's not even an option here. Only options are dollar amounts to be insured for lol. The way it should be.

I might have been going faster, but no faster than 20, because the airbags would have deployed with the amount of front end bumper and frame damage I had

Not sure why anyone would not have full coverage insurance on a vehicle that is worth 14k+. The minimal amount of savings per month isn't worth the gamble.

Now you're out 10k+ dollars all because you wanted to save a few dollars every month.

You live and learn. Good luck in the Honda

I guess I missed the part about the slick conditions. Many times, all bets are off...she starts sliding and ping-ponging against things until it finally stops. After seeing the 4th picture in your profile, she appeared a non-total...totally fixable. But we can only see so much.

You can choose how much coverage you have. For years I had liability only on 3/4 vehicles cus they were older. Mine has almost full. I don't need a rental so I didn't get that.

I have always and probably will always carry full coverage on a daily driven vehicle. Now as for the one's that sit around a lot, like my Ranger, liability only.

Too bad to hear about your accident though.
