Get ready, Katrina is just a wake-up call.
By next summer you will pay between $8 and $12 /gallon, depending on your region, if you're still employed.

Believe.

Here’s one for you...Oil Company's are insured for lost profits and damaged facilities. Another words they profit either way. And now to top it off, the Feds are going to allow them to borrow from the Strategic supply. So now they will profit from the sell of that oil at the taxpayer’s expense. Wait you say…this will help lower the current price…Nope, this wont make a dent in the prices, in fact the price will keep climbing. You say but they have to pay back the borrowed oil…Yes, when they get around to it. Of course there’s always chapter 11…Papa Company buys spin off Company on paper and the slates clean.

Here in Ottawa this morning it is $1.25 (Cdn) per litre. Which calculates to about $3.95 (US) per gallon with the current exchange rate.

Gas is becoming scarce in FL. A co-worker couldn't find any near where she lives. Gas near my house was $2.59 this morning. Gas near work $2.85 I think. I passed the $2.59 gas (Chevron, the only stuff I put in my truck if I can help it) because I was a bit late and I can get some on the way home. Still have a half a tank. Co-worker calls me on the way in to tell me she can't find gas and the news was saying there would be a shortage.
Orange County Public Schools may shut down bus service because it's too expensive to run them. I may run out of gas and not be able to refill. Using a 1/4 tank a day is NOT good.

Last night I filled up for $2.99.. What was interesting is I noticed something of an inversion. The stations here in the downtown area were all at $2.99/gal. Cumberland Farms (who sells Gulf gas) is usually a few cents less. I usually fill up w/ them. So I drove out that way to check.. nope, they were at $3.06.. so back downtown I went.

I did see several people at stations filling up auxillary tanks. There was one pickup from a local landscaping company w/ probably 10-20 5-gal tanks in the bed filling them up! Seems like there is a bit of a panic going on here. I wonder how much of the hike is real, and how much of it is people cashing in on the panic.

I was down 1/4 of a tank and I have crap to do this weekend, so I filled up not wanting to take the chance. But it will be my last fillup for a few weeks if I can help it. I had half a thought of filling my jerry can, but in the end decided against it.
