Gas prices WTF!? What's yours?

No it's diesel everywhere. It is the diesel in the entire country unfortunately. And bad diesel in a newer engine can kill a lot of components in a short amount of time. I use additives in the TDI every fill up as well. A batch of low lubricity diesel (or a small amount of gas mixed in the tanker truck) can kill the HPFP and wipe out the entire fuel system, costing $8-10k to replace.
Why is it so expensive? Probably largely due to taxes, and further refining to make it ULSD (ultra low sulfur diesel).
Although I don't know why fuel is right now, I try not to look because I'm going use the same amount anyway. 93 octane in the F150 too. I know it is over $3 though.

paid 3.49 for diesel the other day. i think it was 3.29 this morning.
which is refined less and has less regulation on quality... so you think you have the shaft on gas, diesel is worse. The quality of diesel has suffered so much over the last few years that most guys including me now put in an additive every tank to protect against rust, mold, dirt, sand, and water. Not to mention we already run 2 filters. The fuel companies are nothing but a joke.

NASCAR can keep the damn gas at that price.
Everyday I thank god I have a 2.5L Ranger. I get almost 30MPG city. I fill up like every 2 weeks. I couldn't ask for much better. Would I like 210+HP, yes I would. Can I afford it, no I cannot.

when your hilary clinton was up here , she was up here for a reason
( she was summoned up here , by our prime minister )
to answer the main question -- why are your citzens paying less than us for fuel
( she could not answer that question )
but guess what americans , in the next couple of months , you guys / gals will be paying the exact same amount for fuel as we are ( converted from litres to gallons of course )
you can thank hilary clinton for that -- they queried bill oil about that issue
( she was summoned up here , by our prime minister )

I worked at a gas station a while ago and the most I ever saw anyone do was a test by putting a stick in tanks with water detection paste.
I managed jet fuel tanks at an airport and we had a host of tests we did and recorded. I haven't seen anything near that with auto fuels.
Maybe NM is different I don't know, it could be better regulated than other places. I hear that California generally has better quality diesel than other parts of the country...?
But just because there are standards doesn't mean they are observed by everyone either.
If you've ever talked to tanker drivers they will tell you that flushing the trailers doesnt get rid of everything and the same trailers are used for different fuels. Older diesels are a lot more forgiving then newer diesels. My number one concern is lubricity/wear rating.
Anyway I'm getting more off topic. I just paid 5.49 per gallon for avgas. 100 low lead. lol

It's funny you guys get all excited when you get around 20-25MPG on 4.0s or 3.0s.
I can't even force my truck to get 25MPG, I think if I drove around in 3rd all day MAYBE.

I use to never think about fuel usage, but I do more now since the golf gets 40-45mpg. I drive my truck to Lexington and back (gently even) and use 1/4 tank. I can drive the golf there and back aggressively and the gauge hardly moves on that little tank.
When I think of traveling any distance the golf costs SO much less. But then again I worry a little more about dies quality in some places. lol
