Wow. I can honestly say after reading this thread that Connecticut is like the worst state for gas. LOW prices in CT right now are 3.50 for 87 Octane. Diesel is near 3.80 a gallon.

Here in New England it varies but in boston area it is around $3.19/gal US.
Heard one News Person call out the dreaded $5.00/gal figure; I think they are priming us to get used to that number… won’t be long.

The reason gas and diesel prices are so high in this country is,no current or past presidant had any common sense when it came to ENGERY policy. For so many years our hands have been tied we no longer drill for oil here we pay people not to drill here all because we had a few mishaps and oil spilled so all the tree huggers said no more drilling here and ODUMBO lisend so now we dont drill anymore. And we havent build any new refinerys here in along time all because of a small group on wackos! told the administrations NO! We are sposed to have more oil then any rag headed country overseas but we cant drill and have clean air and so on they scream you polute the waters!!! and kill the fish an aminals and why cant they drill in alaska? because they want to protect the mirgrating elk heard is that crazy or what? who cares if animals have to walk aroung the equipment it's more important for people to fill up without paying throught the %$^ for gas!.

One major thing the majority of people don't think about is our STRATEGIC oil reserves. This is one thing the government did right.
Yes , we have oil here we COULD drill for and lower our prices.
But,
And there's always a BUT ,
If during a major war or natural cataclysmic event in which our oil imports were completely cut off , we still have a source to fall back on , right in our own back yard.
It's just another form of disaster preparedness .
We have the knowhow and the means to keep oil flowing if the worst happens.
Why use it all up now when we might need it in the future ?

- The problems with that OTRtech is this right now the US is at the mercy of OPEC and they can and will set the price as high as they want to,and beside why wait 10,15 or 20 years down the road to use the oil in this country?I'm sure that people when they fill up dont want to pay 100 + for the big v8 or v12 trucks or 50 for the 6 cyl rangers. What we really need in the US is a presadant and a house and senate that has a clear understanding of the problems that every american faces at the PUMP! instead of just lip service.

I don't understand why Gas is so expensive here in Tacoma when we have freaking refineries in the dam port. I live less than 10 miles from them and gas is $3.49 or something. I honestly don't look, but its about $58 or more to fill my truck.
