i went muddin today for a few hours, and realized my freakin battery **** was low so i got a new battery and still was low but i wanted to go to this party tonight. was drivin this chick home bout 30 mins ago and my radio shut off and my lights stopped workin and my truck ****in **** out right behind a cop car that stopped someone for speeding. not the best thing when i got crap in my truck and ive been drinking. it ended up bein fine tho and my truck barely made it home. well ill prolly need a new alternator, i need some kind of **** to block mud from goin in the engine.

Go to RPS there's a thread where a guy explains how to clean an alterenator well, with a special alternator cleaning spray.

 

Damn man, same thing happened to my truck...except a lil different

I went mudding/water hopping (water prolly did me in) and I left my truck on the ENTIRE time. I didn't shut if off.


I went to the wash place and shut my truck off, when i went to turn it on, it just clicked. Clicked....click....click, then it turned on the 5th time I tried it.


Then I safely got back to my house, no problems....

When I went to go out later at night, click. I had full power, but just a click.

I was thinking I hydrolocked or something serious. But out of a hunch I jumped it and it started without hesitation. I was thinking, ****.

I need a skid plate or somehting, or I may be able to fab up a plate to protect my alt...it got SOAKED...really bad.

So I feel your pain.

ya well actually i was kinda in a pissed mood anyway and i wasnt talkin to her so i had my music up, and it ****in **** down in my truck went slow as a ****. flooring it and goin 35. i thought it was funny how i ended up dieing right near a cop. the girl was freakin out cause she was pretty drunk and i just said i dont care lol

If you got water all the way up on your ALT.. that puddle must have been huge...ive went through some deep **** and barely got muddy water on the valve covers...

That sucks evan, same thing happened to me, driving home late at night after a day of mudding at spring creek, the lights dimmed, radio died, and it wouldn't accelerate... then when i got home the lights were completely dead and it wouldn't start

the engine was covered with mud, and its still not clean (this was about over a year ag0) haha

but yeah, its a fried alt
