This is exactly what i'm looking into doing, even got a 5.0 coming in the fall(doesn't mean I'm doing it soon though). I was thinking of getting a 06+ single cab white ranger lowering it and putting 03-04 cobra wheels on it( the shiny ones haha). not sure if this is the best year to get but thats what I'll be getting

Huge wire change happened in 04. Everything earlier is pretty much the same as the expo

To keep costs down, you could also get a 98 ranger. Then get a 96-97 expo 5.0. That way you will not ahve to deal with ANY PATS systems

Throw a 01+ front clip on, and no one would know the difference
