getting a new ranger few questions..

Hi guys I'm new, going to be purchasing a new ranger very soon. I am wondering if I should get the 3.73 gear axle or the 4.10 axle from the factory? and should I get limited slip? Just looking for your suggestions as I'm up in the air about it. Thanks !!!

sounds like you want to get the fx4 ranger to me, 3.73 are better on the highway than the 4.10's, the 4.10's gives you better use of the torque, but for the limited slip you have to get that, i wouldnt reccommend not getting it. trust me you will never look back once get a l/s over an open diff. isnt the 4.10's an option because you can also move up to 31's in stead of the stock 28's? cuz i know on some the new rangers i did PDI's on all the fx4's have a 4.10 torsen l/s rear end because it comes with the bigger tires.

What are your intentions for the vehicle? there are many things that come into play when choosing these options. The majority of R-F's will tell you to get the 4.10's so you can put bigger tires on it and go cruising through the mud. If you only ever plan to use this as a daily driver and haul some stuff then the 3.73's will get better MPG with the stock wheel/tire set up.

Slip is when one tire is using the tq from the drive shaft and the other wheel is spinning freely. LS will grab both shafts and spin the other tire if the one that is supposed to get the power seems to not be grabbing the pavement like it should. It's mostly a safety precaution for wet pavement situations in daily drivers.

If you're going to offroad this thing, then go with the 4.10s and the l/s. You wont regret it.

Now if this is going to only be on the street then id say stick with the 3.73 and if possible get the l/s. Itll just help with traction.

4.10 gears since obviously a lil bit of vroom is of interest to you.

Also, when you upgrade tires, go to 31 inch tires. They look really nice.
